Fabulous!
THese Childhood of Famous American books are well worth the money. My kids love them and have learned so much by reading them aloud with me and on their own. A great way to introduce TRUE history in a childrens story form.

Amelia Earhart: Young Aviator
As most people know, Amelia Earhart disappeared while trying to fly around the world. This book talks about Amelia’s life and what led up to this final flight of hers. During her childhood she lived a nice life until a certain point when her father was struggling. After her life turned around for the better. During collage Amelia quit to go live with her parents in California where she got a ride in a plane. This activated her interest in flying. After that day Amelia wanted to learn to fly. People doubted that she would be able to, but she proved them wrong. Amelia was able to buy her own plane. In this plane she survived her first crash. Soon after Amelia became a solo flyer, which meant she was finally a pilot. In the fall of 1921 Amelia took part in air meets. Soon Amelia became one of the best-known aviatrixes in California. Although her career was taking off her parents’ marriage wasn’t doing well. Finally, in 1923 Amelia’s parents divorced. During this time Amelia didn’t fly for some time due to an infection called sinus. She had to sell her plane to have surgery done. After this Amelia’s life had many ups and downs. Finally, she retired but before doing so she wanted to become the first woman to fly around the world. Coming to her final destination, her plane went down. No one ever found her, but she was always remembered. By: Udo chidi

Not age-appropriate
I agree with the review from "Mom to a Five Year Old."---too many adult issues for a children's book. Even for my 8 and 6 year-olds, there was a lot I skipped over in reading it aloud. The issue of her parents' marital problems could have been mentioned briefly, as it affected her growing up years, but handled in a much more discreet way. We really do not need to know the details. It seems to be the main focus of much of the book. I was disappointed. I wanted to know a lot more about Amelia and a lot less about her parents.
