Human Beasts: The Films of Paul Naschy: Color Edition

Just opinion and recycled quotes/references
The more I read this, the more sorry I am that I bought it. More opinion than anything else. With plenty of quotes from other sources with little new information added. Most annoying is the constant references of how shot after shot is reminiscent of a shot from another film. This is just like this scene in Bava's Black Sunday. That scene is like opening to Witchfinder General. Even claiming something in a Naschy film went on to influence a future film with no evidence to support the theory. The lighting in one scene is like the lighting in a scene in American Werewolf in London, and since Landis knows of Naschy's, he must have done it on purpose....... On and on. I bought the color edition but I'm way past the point where cool color pictures is enough to justify a purchase. Not at almost $35 it's not. Also know it's not full full color, there's plenty of black and white photos too. Nothing more than a really thick fanzine.

Highly Recommended
I came to this book having only seen a few of Paul Naschy's films and by the time I finished it (over three days), I'd ordered two volumes of Naschy's films on blu ray. This book is as entertaining as it is informative, covering every film of Naschy's career. It includes details of the plots as well as well researched production details and associated trivia. The author offers his personal opinion of the films and he's not always complimentary, but his love for Naschy's talents and filmography always shines through.I purchased the full colour edition which I highly recommend. The book features many photos, all of which are beautifully reproduced.

Appreciate Paul Naschy's Place in World Horror Cinema
I recently bought this book on Amazon Prime Day and I am approximately 1/3rd of the way through. I have to say I am pleased as punch to be reading this book and understanding Paul Naschy's place in world horror cinema. I confess I knew a few facts about his work, but this book is a deep dive into the man, his approach to making movies (influenced as he was by the Universal monsters) and the constraints he was under working in the Spanish Film Industry of the 60's and 70's. I am looking forward to finishing the book and getting an even clearer picture of Naschy's life and career. This is a definite recommend from me.

Another Winner by Troy Howarth
I'm about two-thirds of the way through this book, and Troy Howarth has done a magnificent job of cataloging Paul Naschy's film career. This is the fifth of Troy's solo books I have read (I've got his Klaus Kinski book but haven't read it yet), and they've all been terrific. Highly recommended for Naschy fans as well as for those like me, who didn't know much about Naschy or his films until I discovered them, largely as a result of Troy's efforts and enthusiasm.

Detailed reading
Love the deep detail. The author is obviously a fan, so that informs some of his opinions.

great book, loaded with information and tons of photos
great book, loaded with information and tons of photos, I have the color version, well worth the extra cost. Nice introductions by Naschy's sons and the book covers pretty much his entire career. Like the other books by Troy Howarth, definitely worth adding to your movie library.

Upon browsing this edition of the book the first thing ...
Upon browsing this edition of the book the first thing to note is a multitude of colour images from the works of Paul Naschy. The book is quite substantial and well laid out. I've only touched upon reading this just yet, but as I own many of Troy Howarth's books I've no doubt that this is as thorough and engrossing as his previous books. Troy really knows his subjects and has a passion for each project he undertakes, never coming across as a "fanboy", but instead shares his enthusiasm for the films he loves, but also never afraid to say if he doesn't rate something, without being overly critical. As much as a cult film fan that I claim to be, I always learn something new about these films, and that's why they are completely worthwhile. Just for the record. I'm in no way affiliated or related to the author, despite the same surname.

Shabby packaging
Fabulous book, but damaged part of the packaging was stuck to the front and back of the book.
