2013 release from Electronic musician Zach Saginaw (AKA Shigeto), the follow-up to 2012's Lineage mini-LP. Shigeto stands for Zach's vividly beautiful electronic music. Beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous, Shigeto's music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.

I didn't like the darker sound at first but I think it ...
This album really grew on me. I didn't like the darker sound at first but I think it is really cool now after a few listens. Once again Shigeto creates a lush soundscape full of subtle clinking, ratcheting, booming, popping and dinging percussion with really cool patterns. This is one of those percussive albums that is done right. The melodies in the song are really subtle and clearly exist to complement the percussion. I love the use of keyboards in the album. They sound like some real crisp and loosely played Rhodes sounds. I love how all the components of the songs sound so natural and organic, even the synths. Some beats are off beat but it's just not a problem with this album because it creates that human element. It's not an album I would play in a group of people but rather one I would listen to in solidarity out in nature or something where the textures can create an experience with my surroundings. Superb!

I'm new to Shigeto, but not electronic music
I don't like heavy repetition, and it's nice that Shigeto avoids that. Shigeto has the crackling sound of static (or is it rain?) mixed with tinkling and candy drop keyboards. In places he pulls out deeper darker sounds with mild distortion and reverb. Do I hear the echo of voices? Music for a strange Japanese video game, a space voyage, or the feeling of an abandoned city. I want to say that he is making unique and original music, but I'm not experienced enough to make that claim.Several of the songs on the album are great. Great meaning that they will still be listenable years from now. Some of the songs are ok. The album overall is very good. I've had it for 3 weeks now, the newness has worn off, and I am still glad I bought it. What else is there to say?

Groovin
Almost too smooth? Maybe. But, it hits a spot for me. Plus the dude seems cool. Representing his city and his own style. A couple tracks reach transcendence (transcend dance, haha [this is not a dance record b t w]), and I mean cut-of-the-year stuff. Really excellently executed. Super largely professional. I turn of the cd very loud when I drive and shake my head and once I am parked at home okay drink a beer on the porch okay but the music is still playing loudly from the car which is turned off. Serious.

good album but no better than the MP3s
good album but no better than the MP3s, was digitally mastered so you aren't getting anything extra out of the vinyl, except to add to your collection! album art is beautiful though so it might just be worth it

Great!
I ordered and received the record all within 7 days. I've never gotten anything that fast! The shrink wrapping on the record wrinkled one corner a little bit, but it was hardly noticeable. The record was in new condition. I would definitely recommend this seller and buy from them again!

What music should be
From the intro that manages to give you a perfect taste of what to expect from the album all the way through the final track, this album is gold. Looking back at Shigeto's previous releases there has always been a nice fusion between electronic and more organic sounds. However with this release I think he's gotten the mixture just right. It definitely does not feel like you're listening to a beat tape in the slightest. These are full fluid songs presented here, and the way the tracks build up and evolve makes it feel a lot less like a conventional electronic album. But this is one of the albums strong points, most of the material just has this flow that demonstrates how much his music has evolved over the years. This is something I will be listening to for a long time and the only downside I would have to point out is that you can't get it on vinyl.
