I have been making handmade knives for 20+ years, I started out when I was working as a Metalsmith in Houston and had an interest in furthering my talents from fabrication of wrought iron furniture - I had learned about the physical properties of different metals while working as a high pressure pipe inspector, in using the 500 lb. trip hammer I started my own damascus steel (very labor intensive) combining 1095HC w/ 5160 & using borax between the folding of the twisted and hammered metal- 200+ folding takes a long time- these blades from "Leather n Dagger are the real deal, very easy to attach scales and I make my own Kydex or leather sheaths, I have a woodwork shop and make a presentation box from the same excoit wood that the handles are made from- I highly recommend these blades to anyone who wants a fine knife, they are tempered correctly and hardened to RH of 58-60 and have pre-drilled holes for attaching the scales
