Brightness unadjustable, HP support refuses to cooperate
What it says in the title. HP support is so uncooperative and broken that it's phrohibitively difficult to try and even approach this issue. Their support site doesn't even see this product in their automated menu which you MUST fill out in order to open a ticket. Brightness started good, then automatically dimmed. I can get it back to full at random when restarting it or changing display options in windows, but it always dims again at the first opportunity. Factory reset did not help. All eco / power / eye strain settings are not enabled or set to max performance. This monitor is so dim with this defect that using it for any amount of time or focus causes significant eye strain. Yet another product's quality affected by companies forcing "eco" into everything or trying to inflate their reliability / lifetime claims by forcing it to underperform and making the support process miserable, hoping people don't notice or care. Never buying HP again simply for the customer support side of things, it's awful even by today's standards.

About Quantum Dot on Glass
Quantum Dot is the next generation display technology from Nanosys, which currently provides this technology to all the display manufacturers including HP.The Nanosys website describes an interesting roadmap -- the current technology uses color filters on top of the quantom dots (like traditional LED displays), but in the near future Quantum Dot Electro Luminescent technology will turn the electricity into photons directly without the need for color filters.According to Nanosys, here are the advantages for Quantum Dot on Glass (QDOG):-- Ultra thin design-- Cinema Colors: >100% DCI-P3-- Robust Reliability: No burn-in-- RoHS Compliant: 100% Heavy Metal Free-- Compatible with both edge and full array local dimming (FALD) devices-- Low Cost: Eliminates need for plastic barrier filmIn the future, Quantum Dot Electro Luminescent (QDEL) technology will have the following advantages:-- Future emitter material for emissive displays delivers on the promises of OLED-- Emissive technology: perfect black levels-- Perfect color and viewing angle: no micro-cavities required-- Rugged, inorganic materials: true HDR luminance and improved reliability-- RoHS Compliant: 100% Heavy Metal Free-- Low cost: Solution processable via ink jet, transfer or gravure printingSo you can think of this HP Pavilion 27-inch Quantum Dot on Glass Monitor as capturing the benefits of the 1st generation of Quantum Dot technology where the filters are still used (just in case this gets confusing later on, when the next generation, QDEL, comes out).

Indeed hard to use, gifted monitor.
This monitor can be used for enthusiast level photo viewing with included icc profile color managed. It's Cool Color Mode is almost srgb I guess. standard is DCI P3, meaning everything will be oversaturated for daily use.For gaming, brightness is great but hdr is just not yet.Major flaw is that this monitor has some defects of it's 'signal out of range'(possibly poor control chip and compatability). - Perform reset, unplug power, change really good shielded hdmi/dp cable will be beneficial. For people who likes computer, it's a good choice but for daily users, not so good.

aesthetically pleasing with connectivity wake up issue
Great looking monitor. Good feature sets and resolution. The main issue is monitor waking up when connected to the laptop. 80% of the time it works fine, but the other 20% it doesn't work properly. When it doesn't work properly, I noticed the monitor was only lit slightly (as if the brightness is turned all the way down) and you can barely see the windows on the monitor. When this happens, the only solution is to unplug the power connector and plug it back in then the monitor is completely lit. To me, it feels more of a controller software issue than a panel issue. For a brand such as HP, this kind of quality control is unacceptable. Wish there could be a firm ware update on this.

Wouldn't Work
I bought this as a second monitor for a Macbook Pro (2018).It didn't work. My computer is up to date. There are no drivers for the screen. I connected the screen to my computer with every capable option (USB-C, HDMIT, etc.) and it wouldn't work. At best, the screen on my laptop strobed. Then I tried to hook up the screen to my wife's brand-new Macbook Pro. Same thing. Screen would not work.Called HP Help and Support. I was told that because the screen was "manufactured two years ago" they couldn't help. For their service manual wasn't "up-do-date" for things made "that long ago". Moreover, the person I spoke to said they also couldn't help because they "hadn't used a Mac in a while".Got the screen at 11am. Returned by 8pm same day.

Great for photos + renderings
I selected this monitor to replace a smaller 19” widescreen that had begun to flicker. It sits on a desktop in my home office, and while its bigger, its not significantly heavier than the older monitor. It does adjust (tilt) much easier than the old monitor and feels much more stable. My primary use for this computer is some work with photo editing, drafting and rendering for an architectural practice, and the occasional youtube video – I do not use this set up for gaming or heavy movie watching. That said I love the new display. It is bright and crisp and a world beyond what I was accustomed to – I would argue that it is even better than the equipment my office uses for our work stations. Everything was crisp and easy to read. Personally I wouldn’t go much larger than this as it would be hard to take the full monitor in without turning my head significantly. But this monitor is sized appropriately and gives me plenty of work surface for tools and icons without cluttering my active windows.Would easily suggest this to anyone in the market for a monitor.
