Garbage in bear country REQUIRES teh use of ammonia!
I have tried Shop Rite, Acme and Stop and shop on numerous occasions. NO ONE IS CARRYING Ammonia anymore!!! I use this in a squirt bottle to spray the inside and outside of my garbage can when I put trash out that has anything organic in it. Bears and raccoons have an awesome smelling ability - and they come from far and near to enjoy the trash in my neighborhood. I have only had a few of my garbage cans attacked over the past 20+ years. I use small plastic bags inside the house, then transfer to a larger black bag for outside. I make sure all food is washed away (I wish I had a garbage disposal but with a septic tank its not a good idea). I put out my trash at 7-8a when they pick it up around 9a or so. Its a methodical plan - but there is nothing that I hate more than picking up trash. Now I only pick up my neighbors trash because they have not discovered a way to prevent bears from hauling off their trash to eat in my yard !!!!!

This review is for the fish tank and aquarium crowd
Although most reviewers are using this as a cleaning product, I know there are other hobbyists out there looking for a product to establish the beneficial bacteria to cycle nitrogen in their aquarium. I just completed cycling my tank with this product. Before using it, I checked other reviews, and watched some other online videos using this product safely. I shook the bottle before using to check to see if there were any bubbles indicating anything else in the solution, and it checked out. The bottle doesn't include a concentration. I suspect that means that each batch can be within a wide range of acceptable concentrations- so proceed cautiously/gradually. But I thought I would share what worked for me. For a 10 gallon tank, about 1/2 a cap raised ammonia readings up to my target of 2-4ppm. I've seen others use closer to a full cap, and in my case, I think that was a little too much. I relied on "The (almost) complete guide to fishless cycling" (google it) and everything went perfectly. Within a little over two weeks, my tank is safely processing 2-4ppm of ammonia into nitrate within 24 hours. The bottle has 100 times more than you need, but the price was cheap for me. If you have access to Dr. Tim's at a lower price- I'd go for that. But if you need an alternative, this worked safely. This review was written in 2021. As always- stay vigilant- keep an eye on any changes to the product.

Good quality, a smidgen pricey
Since our middle daughter was young, we have been putting a cup of ammonia into the wash to help neutralize allergens. It has been a lifesaver. In recent days, it has been difficult to find ammonia, apparently it is a popular item during COVID. I saw this brand on Amazon and thought to give it a try. There is nothing wrong or bad with this product. It is just pricey for what you get. Based on being about ten times as expensive as the usual store brand, I figured that this must be extra concentrated. There is no difference between this brand and the less than $2 per same amount brands that I normally use. In a pinch, this is a fine product, but you can probably do just as well using the store generic brands.

Safe for aquarium use for a fishless cycle
USED IN AN AQUARIUM - FOR ANY OTHER USES, THIS REVIEW WILL NOT BE HELPFUL. Finding a plain 'ol ammonia solution to get a fishless cycle in an aquarium going is seemingly impossible. I looked in multiple grocery stores and hardware stores to no avail. This was the only option on Amazon that wasn't insanely expensive (and, frankly, for $10 for a small bottle of ammonia, the cost of this is still insane) and had quick shipping. I can attest to the fact that this ammonia has no scents and no detergents. As others have stated, the bottle doesn't provide the concentration, but 1 tablespoon added to a 30-gallon aquarium increased by ammonia from 0 ppm to 1.0 ppm. One thing to note is that this is ammonium hydroxide and not ammonium chloride. While ammonia will tend to raise your pH, this will do so to a much higher degree due to the fact that it's essentially a base (i.e., the hydroxide portion of the compound will raise your pH). During a fishless cycle this is somewhat irrelevant, but if you're monitoring your water parameters closely during your cycle, don't be surprised when your pH spikes. Even though the bottle is small, since my tank is fairly small this bottle has provided more than an enough ammonia. I've been adding 3-4 tablespoons daily now that my ammonia being processed to keep a supply of ammonia in the tank (which both the bacteria and plants like) and I expect that I'll have half a bottle left. For my purposes - which are, admittedly, quite simple - this worked well for me. For other aquarists looking for an ammonia source, I can confirm that this is safe to use and will perform as needed for your cycle. Good luck!
