But 6 kids aged 8-16 in the house...nobody likes to ever shut the dang door and I was tired of heating and cooling all of earth. So ordered a set. Wish I hadn't waited so long. These things work great. And you can adjust the tension easily...from a slow soft close, to darn near slamming. Excellent hinges! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Non-orthodox use problematic *by M***D on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2019* If you are installing on a regular door then you probably won't run into my problems. I installed a knocked-together garden gate to keep the dog out of my lumber pile. I screwed the hinges into the wooden fence, leaving the hole for the spring locking pin inaccessible (against the fence). If there were several holes drilled into the cylinder it wouldn't be a hassle, but there is only one hole.I finally tightened down the spring and installed the pin first - then screwed the hinges onto the fence. Sounds easy? Try opening a tightened hinge and install the screw with a power drill at the same time... ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not great *by E***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2019* These are much nicer looking than the old Stanley brass spring-hinges I bought them to replace, but unfortunately not as high quality. For one thing, they creak--not terribly, but noticeably more than the old ones. Worse, on one of them I'm finding the little pin that you use to set the tension sometimes works itself loose with use. I don't know if it would ever come completely out on its own or not, but it definitely doesn't stay all the way in like it's supposed to. Maybe if I cranked the tension up higher it wouldn't happen, but that would make the door slam closed harder than I'd like. So I may try some epoxy glue or something on the head of the pin to try to keep it in place.
