## Description

These replacement spindles are used on vintage style door knob systems. They feature 3/8 inch–20 custom threading and come in a zinc plated finish. The nominal size of these shafts measure 1/4 inch x 1/4 inch x 3-1/2 inch, BUT their actual size is 17/64 inch x 17/64 inch x 3-1/2 inch. This square spindle fits 9/32 inch and 5/16 inch square openings, but it will NOT fit into 1/4 inch square drives. To ensure your handle secures to this spindle make sure to use a mid-grade adhesive on the tips of the threading to help "lock" the handle in place. Nominal size is 1/4 inch x 1/4 inch x 3-1/2 inch

No matter how hard we tightened the set screw, or screwed then on, they were always a hassle. Until now. This shaft replaces the old ones with the worn out threads. It fit perfectly and provided a much more “solid” feeling immediately. The knob screws in perfectly, and once at the correct depth, the set screw locks it into place. It fits the old door, lock, and knobs perfectly. I wish I had done this 10 years ago. It’s worth noting that we did have one KNOB with worn threads inside. Not much can be done for this except to replace the knobs. Otherwise, these are a slam dunk fix that takes about 2 minutes per door. DID YOU KNOW: Glass doorknobs became common in the late 1930’s and early 1940’s because the USA needed as much metal as possible to build the tanks, planes and other machines for WWII. People were encouraged to recycle their metal doorknobs and replace with glass.

**Q: How long is this spindle?  I need a 2 in. one.**
A: The ones that I ordered are 3 1/2 inches long. However, since the door knobs screw onto the spindle (with the ends of the spindles going into the door knobs) it's possible that by screwing them onto the spindle you can get to the 2 inches you are looking for but I don't know this for sure. Good luck.

**Q: Are these spindles threaded wnd-to-end or is there an unthreaded section of 1" or 1 1/8" ?**
A: Threaded on eachb and with a middle section not threaded.

**Q: Are these 16 or 20 threads per inch (TPI)?**
A: 3/8"- 20 threads per inch.

**Q: How many come in a pack?  The product description says 1 but the reviews say 2?**
A: There are 2 pcs in the 1 package.

Perfect fit for my glass door knows from 1935. Be sure the screw is put on the flat part of spindle. Just turn it until you see the flat part.
