Works great for the Blind
I have to date bought three of these recorders for my father who has gone blind over the last few years. The first one he used for memory verses. He loved it immediately because the buttons were easy to find and with ears phones he could listen to things repeatedly without disturbing others in the house. He continues to have people record verses on that one. He wanted one for songs, so he could memorize words to them and the quality is good enough that he can understand the words and learn the tune. He uses the third to record talks or letters or have people record things on them so he can send it back and forth, they are durable enough for that. They are reasonable enough that buying a few for varied purposes does not break your budget. Others can listen to it in an open room setting. Once you know where the buttons are you do not need to see them to use any of them and the battery seems to last a long time even when used daily. It is small enough that it fits in his chest pocket and he takes it when he walks. He's 94 and wired...

i wouldn't buy this
it records ok, but there's not a way on hand to digitally transfer information. I wish there was an sd card or usb cable you could use to attatch it to your computer.

handy recorder
This recorder is great for making reminders while in the car. No complicated button pushing to do. Push record and it records. Hit pause, it stops but stays on so when you push record again, you are in the same folder. The tone is good and it is easy to use. The volume is adjustable and the speaker works well. I love it. The aaa batteries last for a decent amount of time and the viewing screen is big enough so you can actually read it.

No Folders
It arrived today. Compact. Easy to use (record, playback, search, erase). Searches are done by the date of the recording, then the number of the file (no titles). You cannot add to an existing recording.. If you make multiple recordings over a period of several days of things to buys, one recording may contain only 1 item; the next 3, the next; 5; the next 1; the next, 7 etc...., over 5 days. Searching for all the items in the separate recordings would obviously be quite time consuming. My son was here and downloaded a free voice notes app for my Samsung android cell phone. (He is always showing me useful features of the Samsung, of which I was totally unaware.). It has folders. He created a Peapod folder, so that when my wife or I think of something to get, it is added to this folder. The DP-10 could be very handy recording conversations with physicians. for example. With the available telephone adapter you could record telephone conversations. There is also an available microphone. So, I expect to be able to put the DP-10 to good use. The playback is very clear, by the way.

Good product for a great price
This is a very good recorder for a great price. I use it for lecture classes, and it picks up even soft-speakers from across the room. It is easy to use, both for recording and playback. The large lettering helps me find things quickly. It's also great for carrying around because of its small size. I like the dual built in speakers and standard headphone jack. The only thing that others may want is a USB line to a computer, but as I don't necessarily need that, this product is great for me. However, on the listing page under product details, it does state "Product Dimensions: 10.7 x 5.5 x 6.6 inches." These are actually centimeters, and much better as such!

Easy to use but Annoying Limitations
Couple good things about this:* good recording sound quality (mono)* doesn't lose data when batteries are taken out indefinitely* nice big display* bright "recording now" indicator light* has push buttons for: play, stop, record, next/previous, play speed, search/menu, erase, and slide buttons for mic sensitivity, noise cancel, power on or off hold* cheap, and refurbished looks as good as newCouple limitations:* not USB, but you already know that* annoying beeps whenever you push a button, double beep when file ends, intro sound when the unit turns on. Cannot be disabled, cannot change volume. I think the the beeps come through the same speaker as the audio, so not like you can clip a wire to some piezo element.* no way to erase all files at once. It takes five total button pushes to delete a file, creating six total beeps. Have fun going through erasing a hundred files manually, beeping every step of the way. Saving grace is you can delete files by date, one day at a time. Still, 30 days of files x 5 pushes = 150 pushes and 180 beeps. With my old mini-cassette recorder I just flipped the tape around, done.* if you want to save files to computer with an audio cord, no way to make this unit play all files consecutively. You have to push play/next each time, and each time it annoyingly beeps when the file starts and stops.* did I mention the beeping? If only the beeping could be disabled, and files made to play consecutively, and all files erased at once, this thing would be perfect.

Olympus DP-10 digital voice recorder from Amazon
I purchased this recorder from Amazon because Olympus usually makes a great sounding recorder. This recorder is easy to use and sounds crystal clear even through the built in speaker. If you need to record speech audio or make audio notes, this recorder is absolutely the best! It is very affordable and the audio quality is absolutely superb! The recorder is super light weight and the battery life is quite good too. The goal for Olympus was to replace the micro cassette recorder with this digital version. I think they did a great job!

It works and its simple
But that's about it. I don't hate this product, but it's not a significant improvement on cassette quality sound. And works just as well, in other words, it doesn't replace the cassette in a significant way. Except perhaps for smallness. But my cassette isn't very big either.
