TRIMAX THC250 Universal Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2.5" Hitches

Installed on my Chevy 2500 because the hitch rattle was driving me into needing to borrow someones safe-space. No more rattle and I can move out on to other things that irritate me.

Product feels good and sturdy. Would be good for certain hitches, but does not work with Gen y hitch due to the shaft being thicker out of the shaft.

Super easy to install and torque down. No more clunking coming from the hitch in the insert. After many miles flat towing this has not shifted or loosened. Very happy overall.

I’m really not sure what to make of this tool because the Ubolt broke “loosening” the nut with a wrench to adjust it on the hitch. The nut loosened for several turns and then it seems the threads just went to hell and locked up. I suppose once one is installed you best not plan to adjust it or take it off. When I begin loosening the other side to take it off, it did the same thing. Initially, I tightened each side a little at a time to keep things even so I’m sorta confused as to what occurred. I’ve never broken something this diameter with a common wrench. Design seems good but either the ubolt metal is too soft or I just got a lemon. It was delivered 2 days ago and I just removed it from the box today.

I have one or two of these devices for a 2" receiver, and needed one for a 2 1/2" receiver. This was the only one I found. It's built like a tank, and does exactly what it's supposed to do. You might find one cheaper, but I doubt you'll find one better. My only issue is that I wish there was a way to secure these to your truck. I'm wondering how long before someone steals this bad boy.

This design is an improvement over a similar design that I’ve used that failed. After the first use the nuts loosened up and I then added another nut, see pics, and the clamps have stayed tight. The double-nuts are necessary to maintain a tight clamp.

It works as intended and is well built. The only shortcoming would be the lack of locknuts or lock washers supplied. Without them, the assembly is certain to loosen, especially when towing. Buyers will need to supply their own and/or use locktite generously. 4/5.
