I am going through this with my 8 year old now. There are a few edits I'd make, but they are pretty minor.I have already been introduced to a few tools *I* at 39 did not know existed!Good whether you are homeschooling or using the government schools.We are on about lesson 7, and so far they are well-organize, using skills from earlier lessons to make more complex projects later on.

This book is well laid out and accessible for anyone with a garage and eager kiddos who like to build things. I recommend it highly

Our 6-yr-old grandson loved getting this book, with a set of real, child-sized tools.

This looks to be a good book for learning woodworking. It's divided up into 21 lessons. When I bought the book, I really wanted to see what it was like (I was missing the look inside feature). The pictures inside are black and white, but they're pretty clear (and a lot like the pictures on the front of the book. Each lessons has directions in how to use the item as well as explanations and activities. The table of contents is as follows:Lesson 1: Wood (Talks about how grain differs based on the cut)Lesson 2: Measuring (measuring basics, introduces speed square and combination square tools)Lesson 3: Hammers (hammer mechanics, discusses kinds and sizes of nails)Lesson 4: Using hand saws (explains the difference between crosscut, ripsaw and coping saws)Lesson 5: Drilling (explains differences between drill bits, and the parts of a hand drill)Lesson 6: Peg game ( make a solitaire game with a piece of wood and golf tees)Lesson 7: Block planes (explains the parts of a block plane, how to adjust it, and what to use it for)Lesson 8: Finishing (Covers sandpaper, sanders, and basics of paint, brushes, stains, oil, varnishes, and waxes)Lesson 9: Crosscut box (Build a box for sawing 90 degree angles)Lesson 10: Bird house (includes chart for various birds' housing preferences)Lesson 11: Tool box/art caddy (open top box with dowel handle)Lesson 12: Baseball Rack/shelf (shelf with holes for bat and ball to hang/sit)Lesson 13: Pencil holder (Wood circles with holes for pencils to go through and a dowel spacer between the circles)Lesson 14: Battleship (a large wooden ship with moving (I think) turrets)Lesson 15: Media storage rack (rack with dowel "shelves" for storage)Lesson 16: Step stool (2 step stool)Lesson 17: Bird feeder (platform feeder with shaded top and dowel suet holders)Lesson 18: Workbench (2' by 4' bench)Lesson 19: Doll cradle (rounded bottom doll cradle with dowel sides)Lesson 20: Catapult (marshmallow launcher)Lesson 21: Planter box (tongue and groove pieced planter)

A little disappointed in book. It does have some projects, but the "look and feel" of the book is lacking. More explanation/directions on projects would be better, and color format would add to usefulness. I did find one project to use, so not a total loss.

My son is almost ready to begin some of these projects. He can use tape measure, screw driver, straight edge, and hammer. I appreciate the photos, diagrams, and explicit instructions. We are going to enjoy this book for several years.

Had a lot of fun with the kiddos, teaching them the basics of woodworking.

I read through this and then gave it to my son so he can teach basic skills and safety in the shop to his sons. I think it is great.

Would buy this again perfect for the first time junior joiner

Waste of paper... so disappointed

Purchased as a present for grandson. Heaven only knows what he will need help with.Well received.

Bought for Christmas present doesn't look to technical but will need adult help. Very fast delivery.

Excellent book for my grandchild who will be making lots of things with his dad.
