Professional Ellipse Template (Set of 10)

UPDATE 2017: I have been using these wonderful, extremely accurate templates for three years and have only high praise for them. I had to come back and change my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I have had the opportunity to try other templates in the last three years, and these are, hands-down, the very best, most accurate and most user-friendly templates that I've used.2014 Original Review: I just received this set from Du-All Drafting and I can tell you that, considering the outstanding way the product was packed and shipped, it is worth the shipping cost. So, Du-All Drafting gets five stars.My little gripe has to do with the lack of any alignment LINES on the templates. Instead of lines, the Timely company has put in alignment HOLES in the templates, four for each ellipse. In mass production, especially when you are stamping these templates out, it is much easier to stamp out the alignment holes at the same time instead of printing precision alignment lines. This may explain the fact that these templates cost less, but compared to alignment lines, the alignment holes are less user friendly and less accurate. I am not a draftsman. I use these over quad lined paper for drawing figures in quantum chemistry. But perhaps a draftsman can comment on this review if I'm not correct about the precision of positioning.As for the rest, the templates are of excellent quality. They have a very smooth surface on both sides and lack the silly inking legs. Furthermore, they are thiner than other templates which makes them even more accurate. The transparensy is also fine. I did find some burrs in some of the ellipses but these came off easily. As for the size marks, each ellipse is identified with only standard measurement in fraction format. The decimal equivalents, or the metric equivalents are not indicated. These can be calculated easy enough, but it would have been nice to have these printed next to each ellipse.

Wow, not sure how these measure up to the Alvin 15 pack but those were prohibitively too much especially after shipping so I kind of settled for these with a bit of trepidation. Well since it has arrived in can say I am very pleased with them. I have never seen such things drafting tools before and I absolutely love that they are so things. They say it is to stop the shadows and I like that.I am in South Africa and our stationary is generally of the German or Chinese varieties and I am some what of a snob so I usually buy from jetpens or elsewhere online and cannot fault this at all. Excellent delivery time and a pretty cool set of ellipses.

In the past, I had some assorted ellipse templates, but I never had a complete set, and I always needed a size or degree I didn't have. This complete set is GREAT!I was hesitant to buy these at first because the product photo was, well, horrible. So I'm including a photo of two of the 10 templates so you can get a better idea what they look like.The only negative about these (as noted by other reviewers) is that they don't have the axis lines; they have little holes instead. I have found this to be inconvenient from time to time, but not enough to make me add the marks myself (using an ultra-fine Sharpie). Still, it's nice to know I always have the option.All in all, these are a great deal (and great American-made quality), lines or no lines.I hope you find this review helpful.

This Timely 10 pc, Ellipse set is great for the price. However as one previous reviewer noted these ellipses do not have 'Alignment Lines", they have "Alignment Holes' instead. I rectified that shortcoming quickly with the aid of an Ultra Fine Tip Sharpie and a straight edge. I received my order quickly and hassle free. I highly recommend these ellipses if you don't have a problem with the alignment line issue. They are well made and a lot less money then the Rapidesign or Alvin 10 pc. sets.

I bought this for design drawing class and this helped immensely to make my compositions effective and beautiful to look at. Would recommend for art students.

These ellipse templates are very good. You'll have to get a separate template for large ellipses, but this is the same with all packs of ellipse templates. The value is amazing! The price is right. Also, they don't smell that bad. And the smell doesn't travel very far or rub off on your fingers or anything. I haven't tried drawing alignment marks with a Sharpie (permanent marker), but I may do that soon.

The bad part: when you first open these things up, they reek. And I mean reek. It's just the material that they are made out of. After a while out in the air, the smell goes away and they become an incredibly useful too. In addition to the ellipses themselves, there are guide holes that indicate the X and Y axis of the ellipses. These are incredibly useful.The templates are also semi-transparent which helps a great deal when lining them up on a drawing.
