Easy to use!
Before purchasing this backpack sprayer I had planned on buying the battery operated one. After thinking about it for a while I decided on this one.When I unboxed the sprayer I was pleasantly surprised on how well made this unit is. It also comes with different spray heads, along with a variety of replacement gaskets.I filled up my new Hudson sprayer with 4 gallons of water, and weed killer. It's so easy to use this sprayer without the need of having to pump your arm off. I was able to spray all four gallons in 10 minutes. I'm truly impressed with this sprayer, the ease of use is definitely top notch. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on one of the battery operated units. Don't forget to use PPE when spraying chemicals.

Best buy for the price.
So far I have used this product to spray about 8 gallons of weed/grass killer around my property. There have been no malfunctions so far. The unit seems to be well built a fit for the job. The extra o-rings, spray tips and locking handle are all nice touches. The straps are uncomfortable as mentioned in other reviews, however the fact of not carrying around a two gallon sprayer in one hand while spraying with the other completely overshadows that. I don't think you could beat this quality for this price. Would definitely recommend.

Five years and going strong!
I bought this sprayer after having used a number of one and two gallon sprayers of various brands all of which were junk.Having used the Hudson three times so far, I am impressed with its performance. The jury is still out on long-term durability.Things I like:1-Easy mixing of chemical with big top opening and filter screen to keep everything clean.2-Pump system is awesome - 5 or 6 pumps and you're done until the pressure decreases. The time period until you need to pump again is dependent on how much chemical you are pushing out of the nozzle. All in all it is a very easy process to pump in pressure as you walk along.3-The sprayer comes with three spray nozzles that are easily changed. Since I am doing fruit trees in addition to shorter plants, it is great to have spray heads adapted to specific tasks. The spray heads work well even though they are all plastic.4-Carrying the sprayer tank on your back is the best, keeping your hands free with one on the spray wand and one for pressure pumping. So far I have carried just two gallons of spray and found it comfortable and easily carried.5- The sprayer comes with a new gasket and o-ring set for the time when it first needs rebuilding.Things open for improvement:1- Straps could be better quality and more comfortable- they are adequate at best.2- I would have liked to see a higher pressure capability to push chemical higher in the air for tall apple trees.Overall this sprayer is a very good value if it lasts three or four years. Having the removeable filter screen keeps the nozzles clean and trouble-free. Debris in the spray head one of the big downfalls of most portable sprayers and a huge source of aggravation when using them. With this sprayer the aggravation is gone and a necessary task is made easy.2015 Edit Update: This sprayer is still going strong!. It comes with replacements for o-rings but I have not yet had to replace anything. Overall this was a very good purchase.

Weeds B Gone
I've always used a one gallon pump sprayer until I had a huge job and decided to purchase this sprayer.Pros: Great for large jobs. Comes with a variety of different nozzles. Comes with a complete replacement o-ring kit. Easy to fill and pump. Pumper handle works for right or left hand. Sprays nice and has good pressure.Cons: the straps do tend to fall off of your shoulders once the tank starts to get low but it wouldn't stop me from using it or recommending it to someone else.

This product will make you scream!
The instructions were fairly easy to understand and the package does come with a nice assortment of spray heads. But! That is where the satisfaction ends. The straps are totally uncomfortable and the latch at the base of the strap soon gets tangled as you can see from the photo. The giant problem is the pump lever. After about 10 pumps (way out in the yard), the pump handle comes right off. Even if you attempt to pound it back into place, it still comes off and absolutely will not function. I drilled a small hole in the shaft and handle itself and inserted a screw to attempt to secure it. It soon wallows out the hole in the shaft and loosens up. I should have purchased something else from somewhere else! I am very sad!

Great Value - Good Product
I've used several Hudson sprayers and found them durable and long lasting. The flat spray nozzle produces a fine, well dispersed mist. This unit comes with a seal kit to rebuild it. I use sparyers daily, year round, in my business. I have a lot of experience with the Big Box variety. Hudson makes a MUCH better unit.

Nice sprayer for the price, and could use some small design changes
This is my first backpack sprayer. The load sits well balanced on my back, and the hose is long enough to reach but not long enough to trip over. 4 gallons is a reasonable capacity (weighs about 35-40 lbs fully loaded). The filler is large and water-tight. The spray wand comes with a good variety of tips for different patterns. The trigger has a "lock on" switch. I wish it had a "lock off" position, too.The shoulder straps are minimalist and uncomfortable, especially when putting the pack on. They appear to be low-cost straps like you'd find as a single-shoulder strap on a duffel bag, with a sliding rubber "pad." The way they clip at the bottom is odd, and gets tangled or bends the clips. I'm considering changing them out for padded straps from an old hiking backpack.The pump handle can be moved to either side, at any angle, without tools. If it's positioned high and out of my way, it's hard to reach unless I'm keeping up on my yoga. If it's positioned low and handy, it bumps my elbow and hangs on brush. It does stay on, though.

First use was A++
I had conducted researched on backback type sprayers, this model had the lease negative feedback. There were some neysayers about the unit stating leakage . I found this unit to be the best i've used in 35yrs of lawncare. This unit is solid, easy to use. and has several additional spray attachments. $49 well spent. Fully satisfied customer.
