Worked perfectly on 86 chev power steering
Excellent, wonderful tool. I was replacing the power steering on my 86 chev. A frame p/s unit, pain in the neck to replace. The p/s pulley is attached by pressure, not a screw - and there are bolts for the bracket mount behind the pulley. The pulley must come off - and then go back on. This tool worked perfectly! I was puzzled by the directiions, but then I let the engineering speak to me, and off came the pulley. The pulley was 350k miles old. I used a little penetrating oil, let it rest overnight - and off it came. Takes muscle. Do it slow. I used a couple of big wrenches. Then I used another part of the tool to put it back on. You pull it off and you screw-grab it back on. The center spinle of the p/s is hollow and has screw threads which the grabbers take, and pull the pulley forward onto the shaft. Amazing!!! Took me 25 minutes to figure out the tool and take the pulley off. I could now do it in 5 minutes. Took me 7 minutes to put the pulley back on. Requires muscle and slow movement, little at a time.

Nice cheap puller installer
This is my second puller. I seem to wear these out quick when I pull the pulleys off the pumps. These are indispensable when installing a pulley on a power steering pump. My friend who works on trucks told me to use a little grease and it makes installing the pulleys really easy. Follow the directions on the package, this tool is the best for DIY people who want to save money. I would always recommend buying a new pulley with every power steering pump and having one of these tools in your box.

Easily and quickly remove power steering and other pulleys
I had an annoying power steering leak from the rear plate seal, the pump would also whine pretty loudly in cold weather due to air ingestion. It was time to rebuild the pump. I ordered this tool for the pulley removal and installation as well as a seal kit. I had absolutely no problems at all. The tool smoothly removed the pulley and installed it when I was done. My pump/shaft had little to no corrosion so no extra effort was needed except for the tool. If your pump shaft is rusty you'll need to clean it up best you can before using this or any pulley remover. If the pulley binds, it could break this or any other type of tool so be diligent. I don't think this tool is prone to failure but I do believe some situations are worse than others and if you're not careful, things can strip or snap.

Astro Pneumatic sells itself short on this kit. I ...
Astro Pneumatic sells itself short on this kit. I had to replace the power steering pump on my sons 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi engine and ordered the pump from Amazon which does not come with the pulley, so I ordered a new pulley also to make the job easier. When the pump and pulley arrived the note in the box said it had a 8-1.25 metric internal thread on the shaft. I searched the internet for an installer with that metric thread and found only one (I wont say which one but the price was astronomical). I figured a way to jury rig an installer with a metric bolt and parts from the Astro Pneumatic kit and ordered what I needed. The Astro kit was delivered today and I looked over the parts and lo and behold, the Ford 4.6 Modular screw installer fit perfectly, saving me hours of extra work and grief. Thank you Astro Pneumatic....and I think that you should put the thread sizes in the kit description as it does work for some Chrysler products.

Don't buy
Absolute junk. First time I used it to install a pulley on my power steering pump, the installation stud broke off in the pump. Now I'm stuck with a pump that's useless because I can't get the stud out to continue installing the pulley and a incomplete kit that worthless.

Hated this product at first. figured out the solution and it wasn't the products fault.
Ok, I have mixed feeling about this product. I needed to remove and install a pulley on a GM power steering pump. Removal is simple and this worked perfectly. Installing the pully was another issue. The bearing and pusher washer were the problem. I could go into a lot of detail on what I think is the issue, but the solution I found was pretty simple. Installing the pulley incorporates a ton of pressure on all parts of the kit. What I found is that during installation is that the friction caused by the pusher nut would always overcome the ability of the bearing. After hours of some redneck engineering, I found the simplest solution was to add some additional "friction". During pully installation on my power steering pump, the inner part wouldn't rotate properly. Causing the bearing and pusher nut to rotate together. this would cause the entire assembly and process to fail. Since the power steering pump pully had to be installed while attached to the motor, the final soution I sound was to put a ratchet strat around the pully. It did not wrap around anything else, but the end result was the friction was just enough to overcome the opposing friction caused by the pully installation. I fought installing the pully for 3 days about an hour each day. After putting the ratchet strap in place, the pulley installation was done in under 5 minutes. Sorry this was long but up until I figured out this solution, I would've given this product a 0 star rating before I came up with the solution. Oh, and I also rented a professional pulley installer from my local parts store and their kit was almost 100% identical to this product.

Worked well for me
I used this tool to remove and replace the PS pump pulley on my 2005 Ford Focus with the 2.0L Duratec engine. I needed to remove the pulley in order to partially remove the PS pump (pulley blocks one of the pump mounting bolts) so that I could access the thermostat (pump partially blocks access to the thermostat). I was concerned as the pulley had never been removed in the 14 years it was on but I had absolutely no issues either removing the pulley or reinstalling it using this tool. Im sure I could have spent more for a 'better' tool but for me in this application it worked just fine. The tool was not damaged or worn in any way that I could see and is ready for the next job.
