Now I won’t have to remember the key
It is exactly like I expected it to be. It seems too be sturdy and the best part is I don’t have to remember to have the key ended I want to open the gate.

Seller, please contact me [email protected] purchased Squire Locks COMBI2CH Combi-Bolt Rustproof Recordable Combination Locking Bolt, ChromeWe really like it, but if someone pulls the knob out and turns the numbers, they change the code. We had it up for ONE day and someone did this and now the lock is out and we are unable to close the door. Can you help us reset it? Is there a way for this to be secured so that it's not so easy to change the combination? We can't use it now and I'm hoping you can help me reset it.

Awesome, nice looking lock
Used it to lock a closet door in a vacation rental as an "Owners closet." Looks great and very easy to mount and set my own combination. It's bigger than it looks in photos, but it was exactly the size I was looking for.

Exactly what we were looking for to keep our shed secure and allow keyless entry. So far, so good.

It seemed fine until someone changed the combination by sliding the bolt to lock. It's too easy to do and I have had to unscrew two locks and replace because I couldn't figure out the new combination. The Vault lock combination lock from Amazon has the re set combination button on the inside of the lock and it has nothing to do with the handle so it can't change the combination by mistake. Better design.

One way security screws = win win
Easy to install and easy to change the numeric code.Take care when installing as once the screws are in, they’re in! There’s no removing them.Strong and sturdy and a great deterrent.Great value for money.

Good for relatively low security uses, wouldn’t recommend using one way clutch screws
Squire themselves quite fairly give this lock a security rating of only 4 out of 10, it is sufficient to deter an opportunist passer by, but not suitable for locking away anything valuable more permanently or preventing access to a property. It arrived in oversized PVC clamshell packaging which won’t be accepted in household recycling, so more entirely unnecessary toxic landfill. There are quite a few reviews scattered around the internet berating this lock for the number wheels seizing preventing access with frustrations then compounded by it having been fitted using the included one way clutch screws. I am not that surprised to read this as it was not long before one of the number wheels started graunching and became difficult to turn. I applied a little machine oil to the areas shown on the photo of the underside which resolved the issue. Although it had been greased during manufacture it is not realistic to expect a mechanism such as this to remain lubricated for life especially when exposed to the UK weather. It is clear occasional removal for maintenance will be required as spraying WD40 or the like around the number wheels doesn’t really get the lubricant where it is required and just makes them slippery and harder to turn. For this reason I don’t recommend using the included clutch screws. If you have another means of access the best method of affixing would be to drill holes through the door and secure using carriage bolts with nuts/washers on the other side. If like my situation there is no other access I recommend using something like security torx screws which require a sufficiently unusual driver bit to still stop a passing opportunist, but also allow you to remove it for maintenance or if jammed. Any prepared thief will come armed with a crow bar or other brute force tool, not a selection of screw drivers, so in reality it makes little difference what fasteners you use they will just rip the whole bolt off.I have fitted this bolt on the door of a built in cupboard next to the front door to use as a safe parcel drop off. The bolt is ideal for this scenario as there will only occasionally be anything in there, and only for a few hours. As it will be used by couriers I did a few things to make it as user friendly and fool proof as possible. Firstly it is very difficult to see the rebated marking to identify where to line up the numbers, I stuck on some white tape to make it immediately obvious. It is also tricky to align the numbers without being at eye level with the lock, so I mounted it at shoulder/head height to save annoying any couriers by making them squat. I also added a polite sign requesting they re-bolt then jumble the numbers. So far it is working well. The bolt has a throw of 17mm however there is some play in the mechanism meaning the bolt can be withdrawn such that it protrudes only 15mm whilst still locked. It can be locked in the shut or open positions, and also somewhat curiously at any point within a 5mm window in the middle of its throw. The bolt itself is 9.5mm diameter and the keep 10.5mm diameter, so need to be mounted relatively accurately in relation to one another. If you are fitting with a recessed frame an additional strike plate is included with an obround hole of 13mm wide x 15.5mm high so accuracy is less critical. There is also a large 4.5mm long chamfer at the end of the bolt. Bearing all that in mind if there is a gap between the door and frame of more than about 5mm you may need to mount the bolt body overhanging the edge of the door. The screw holes are 4.5mm diameter and supplied screws are No.8 (4.2mm) x 1” (25mm). I think there must have been a few iterations of this design as I have seen these with a matte blue finish, but this is quite a glossy blue.
