Vintage Doilies to Crochet - A Collection of Doilies, Chair Sets, Runners, Placemats, Runners Crochet Patterns from the 1940's and 1950's Paperback – January 23, 2019

I am about to start one of these doilies. I will try to get back here to rate the ease of reading the instructions.

there are some beautiful patterns. at present, I am doing a twin yarn bedspread, a table cloth, shells, and pineapples, in a pastel thread 2 doilies one in grey and metallic silver will have roses on it other is shells middle area is a dk. pink and I decided to use a zebra black, white and beige, also a tablecloth in muted mauve with a lace yarn it is a different pineapple design, finished a romance doily with hearts with contrasting colors of pink, yellow mint green

This collection of projects has many lovely doilies, but the instructions (for example, the oval doily) say things like 'increase as needed' or 'add stitches so work will lie flat'. Obviously, an experienced crocheter would nod sapiently and murmur 'Of course!' Me, I was lost. I got the Reader's Digest book Complete Guide to Needlework, which has more enlightening instructions (with photos), and that helped a lot. Many of these projects might need stiffening or starching as well, but I haven't done any of those. Still, I love it being on my Kindle, where I can read my book while crocheting, but if I forget the proper stitch for the next row I can just navigate to the exact page, refresh my memory, and then back to my book!

This is a very good book of doily patterns. Book was in very good shape and delivery was very prompt. 10 +++

I really enjoy a couple of pictures of what a pattern should look like.
