Cuppini, Windscreen (Short); Vespa GT/LX/GTS

I looked at many windshields for my 2007 Vespa GTS 250 scooter and decided the Cuppini short windshield was the one I was going to purchase. The windshield fits and looks great. A couple of issues...my Cuppini windshield must have been "old" inventory. The brackets that mount the windshield to my Vespa were rusted and frozen tight. A little 3 in 1 oil and a vise were all I needed to get the adjustment nut moving as it should. I disassembled the bracket, and all of the threads were completely rusted! Also, the rubber gasket that fits around the bottom of the windshield will not stay in position no matter what I try. I made the decision to remove the gasket. It looks fine and the windshield does not rub on the paint. They had a little piece of clear tape holding the gasket in place but that was yellowed and dried up. Is that supposed to be there? As I wrote, earlier, it really looks great on my Vespa.
