Prevue Pet Products BPV1104 Wood Inside Mount Nest Box for Cockatiel

These are the perfect size for our red lories, each of which wants their own little house. Unfortunately, they haven't changed in quality since we used to buy them in pet stores for around $15-$20. The lids are still attached with what looks like a super thin nail or wire, which is often bent by they time you receive it. As they are now three times the price, I would expect a couple of hinges or some better form of closure.

Bought this for my cockatiels. Perfect size for the two of them, and the clutch when it hatches AND grows. Indented bottom to help the prevent the eggs from rolling around, but not very useful in the long run because the birds will always stuff the nest with materials and the bottom is covered. I didn't mount it, but placed it on the floor of the very large flight cage so I cannot attests to the mounting ability or easy. Mine came with a perch. My birds chewed through it within three hours. We replaced it with a wood dowl from the local hardware store and after 7 months it is still there and lasting pretty well. The cover is and was my one and only complain. It opens for cleaning and viewing, so small finishing type nails are used on the one side so it swings up and open. Only one side was attached by a nail. The other side had been nailed, BUT the nail blew through the thin wood and had damaged the wood so it could not be reused or repaired. My very smart hubby installed to small hinges, removed the sharp and dangerous nails, and the top now functions as it should!! I will but this again if needed. I knew how to fix its little issues AND I can never find this size in the pet stores. Overall a great purchase for my birds, but with the damages and weak perch issues I cannot give it the five stars it would have otherwise received.

I use these nest boxes for the juvenile and adult Western Gray squirrels I rehabilitate. This one was larger and heavier and definitely more costly the the standard cockatiel nest boxes I am accustomed to purchasing, so I probably won't order another. That said, it is very well constructed, so if you do use it for bird breeding, I would recommend it.

The item description does not let the consumer know if there is a return it will be at the purchaser's expense. The item arrive ahead of schedule and undamaged but was too large and I requested to return. When I went to the Fed Ex office thinking the code they gave me in the email instructions I was shocked to find that it was going to be 26.00 to return an item i paid 37.70 for including shipping.

Ugh. Much larger than a standard sized Tiel box which is ok- I have a flight cage, still not as ideal. BEWARE- this did not have a perch at ALL. Thankfully my handy friend with a drill and dowel made one for me by drilling through. Any breeder knows eventually babies need a way to exit the nest. Otherwise it's a wooden box with a hinged lid- nothing special or significantly good or bad. Does have the egg indent on the bottom. I kept it only because my female was busy laying and we were ready for a clutch NOW, otherwise I would've returned. Would not buy again or recommend.

nice size well constructed. nesting box. but didn't come with a perch as the pic shows. so sent it back and the replacement didn't have a perch either,

Product would be rated higher, except it did not include the perch. Small thing, but for the price, that shouldn't happen.

A little overpriced for the quality, but seemed to work great and the birds adapted to it quickly.
