I have combination skin that’s really difficult to manage whenever there’s warm weather. My skin is mostly equipped to go moisturizer free in a tundra, it’s so oily. At any rate, with the summer upon us I felt like I absolutely had to do something about my face, my makeup was lasting for approximately 15 minutes when I would leave my house, and sometimes I would catch my mascara running down my face. I found this particular makeup fixer online, and the price was right, so I decided to give it a shot. First thing, the delivery was amazing, it literally got there the day after I ordered it, and I only paid for priority. Secondly, I started using the product immediately and noticed that the spray mechanism isn’t as wide as it should be, which means that you should hold it further away from your face than you normally do in order to have the best experience. At any rate, it works really well at setting your makeup, but I find that it works absolutely best after I’ve done my skincare regimen. For example, I give myself a mask two times a week, TreeActiv Anti Acne & Rosacea Treatment Sulfur Mask Plus Rhassoul, Bentonite Clay Mask with Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera - Refreshing Lemon Scent (1 Jar) (4 Oz) and on days that I use that and my extractor, my make up looks the same but the setting from the mist lasts so much longer and looks way cleaner. I guess that’s because I’ve removed all the oil from my skin. I dont know if this product works as a "set-ter" but it definitely works as a "mist-er"After watching thsi really pretty girl on a you tube tutorial apply this as a finishing touch with a flourish, I decided I needed it too. After all if it could do wonders for her, it could probably work a miracle on me. Thus, when this product arrived I hastily put on my full make-up just like the girl in the video had demonstrated and ended the routine of 32 items with a flourish with the elf mist and set, even though I had no where to go.So I did get dewy and moist which made me feel like a 13 year old girl, albeit with a fully made up face, and at the end of the day my make up remained pretty intact, except for the lipstick which I had to re-apply after lunch. And I did end up going out, if a trip to the USPS store counts.After 1 month of owning it, I realized that I don't use it regularly and the main reason is because it was never a part of my make up routine (which initially consisted of washing my face and later evolved into wash face and apply lipstick), but every now and then when I do put on a lot of make up I use it to set my face.Hopefully I will start using it more. Maybe even without makeup !!

E.L.F is one of my favorite brands because they have amazing products at affordable prices. This setting spray is one good example.

I am still looking for their perfect setting mist. My skin is super oily and even with oil-control matte primer and frequent blotting and powdering as needed during the day, my foundation has run down an rubbed off my face by afternoon, This is the second bottle of this product that I have purchased. It does work, but I have had to make some modifications. First of all, the sprayer on this bottle is not very good. The product sprays out inconsistently. Find a bottle with a fine mist sprayer and use that instead. Secondly, don't use the spray too close to your face. For my best results, I have held the sprayer at least 12" from my face and spayed half of my face at a time. Let that dry and then went in with a second coat all over. Unfortunately, I end up using a lot of product, but it has worked out for me when I applied it this way. I don't have to touch-up anything but my lipstick on those days! It's worth not having to rush to touch up before a post-work evening event; lugging my makeup bag with me all day and not having my makeup rub-off. Finally, be carful of not completely drying your mascara and applying the mist. Make sure that your mascara is waterproof and completely dried before using the setting mist or you'll end up with runny raccoon eyes--been there, not a good look. I have most recently started putting my mascara on last, after I've done the setting mist...not 100% sure I like to go backwards, but I am still trying to find what works. So far, e.l.f Makeup Mist and Set has offered me some assistance, I have only tried the clear although I understand that there is a Matte one as well.
