Love it! I have used it in sand
Love it! I have used it in sand, in rocky terrain, in medium tall mowed grass - it picks up the cases nicely. You do get better results if you roll over the cases as they align with the horizontal wires on the cage, but once you get the hang of it the tool quickly picks up the cases. The version I have does not pick up those pesky .22lr cases that litter the ranges I frequent. The tool came with 5 sections of handle, so it easily breaks down for transport if that is an issue, and it also came with a bracket to hang it on the wall, a nice touch. The tool will not pick up cases that are pushed into the ground (walked on for instance) and in those instances, you have to flick the case up to allow it to be picked up by the tool. I am going to recommend to the company that they put a little extension on one side of the roller bracket to be used for flicking cases up - that way you don't have to bend over to get cases that have rolled up against the leg of the shooting bench etc.The tool also picks up rocks if they are the right size, but those are easily sorted out of the cases.A little spendy, but if you do a lot of shooting and reload, you need one.

Become a brass whore....
Arrived quickly. Works great on concrete and hard packed dirt, though it will pick up small rocks. Doesn't work on grass or loose sand (-1 star). To pick up cases, they must be laying parallel to the broom direction. They also cannot be on end. This is priced much higher than most I've seen but found a big advantage in the 5 piece handle system. In seconds I can take the broom off the handle section and even fit it into my Midway Compact range bag. The handle sections come apart into 5- 12" sections. They easily snap together. The whole thing fits nicely into my range bag. I personally only use a total of 3 sections so it is 3' long. Also comes with a brass release that hooks onto any sort of bucket. Makes getting the brass out an absolute breeze. If you shoot exclusively in loose sand or on grass this is not for you. I shoot on all sorts of surfaces and this makes my life so much easier than crawling around on the ground or bending over to pick up, especially if you're wearing a holster and mags. I would recommend this to a friend.

The AmmoBroom in a word is "okay" and that's about as good as it gets and does basically what all the other extra small nut gatherers do.What it does well: picks up brass - it actually does a pretty good job of picking up brass particularly on pavement and hard pack dirt. The pickup basket seems well built and fairly durable. It breaks down for easy transport in a trunk.Where it is lacking: The handle - this is a major weak point and cost this product some points. The handle is made up of five sections that are friction fit together. Which means it is flimsy and comes apart easily exactly when you don't want it to.Price vs value: This product is way over priced at 69 dollars. If I had to do it over again i would go to MidwayUSA and just order the brass wizard or whatever they have today through them - its cheaper and has a solid handle.Final thoughts - though the product is okay its break sectional handle is a let down. The manufacturer should go back to the drawing board and develop a stronger sectional handle with locking sections or just offer a solid handle as an option.

Stop straining your back!!!
For those of us who like to spend a few hours at the firing range, there is one item that I would call indispensable. It's the AmmoBroom Pistol & Rifle Brass Collector, available through Amazon.com. It works by rolling it over your spent casings. Grass, cement, and dirt surfaces do not deter you from picking up your brass. The handle can be disassembled so that you can store or carry it in a very short space. Emptying the brass is also a breeze.I'm 85 years old, and leaning over to pick up brass is NOT one of my favorite activities after a day at the range. Stop straining your back and get one of these before you go out to engage in your favorite firearm-related activity. Oh, one thing: it will not pick up .22 caliber brass successfully because it falls through the wire cage spaces. This product is made of durable metal parts and should last a lifetime. The price is quite reasonable, too.

No more bending over to pick up brass...
I have been looking at this and the nut tools for nearly a year when I finally decided to purchase this one. The handle comes in sections and simply presses together and pulls apart when done. I tried this on grass, small gravel, large gravel and concrete floor ranges. This is definitely a tool for the hard smooth floor surface. There was little to no success on the grass and forget the gravel; I managed to pick up a few larger caliber rifle and pistol cases but it was not worth the effort; it would have been faster to bend over and pick it up manually. Now, on a smooth hard surface this tool rocks...I picked up 22lr, 32, 380, 9mm, 40, 45. .223, 308, and 762 cases and often these were mixed in various ratios on the floor. You can overload the unit and the smaller cases will begin to fall out, so pick it up fast, dump it and pick up more. I will definitely recommend this to others with the caveats as stated.

I was wondering if this was even going to work when I got it and was happily surprised that it in fact does pick up shells, even .22 lr. You do have to roll over the same areas a couple times to get everything and it does pick up everything that is't held down, including rocks etc. That being said I dump everything I pick up into a bucket take it home and sort it in my shop at the bench in a nice chair. No crawling around on hands or knees picking up brass or moving around so when you shoot your spent brass lands on a tarp you laid out. Worth the money in saving your back and knees, and also much faster then doing it any other way.
