Vic Firth American Classic 5AVG - VIC GRIP

I recently got into drums and needed some sticks that wouldn’t break the bank. These seemed perfect. I’ve never heard of the brand before but the reviews it had was enough to convince me to buy them. It usually goes for around $15 but I managed to get them while they were on sale for just $9.99.I’ve never used drumsticks before so I can’t compare these with others but I do like how they feel in my hand. They’re a good size and have a good weight to them. They seem well made as well, I don’t see them breaking anytime soon unless I throw it hard at a wall or something. I’ve been using them everyday for practice and they’re still in great condition. My wife isn’t too fond of all the noise that I make but we managed to compromise (I bought her a pair of noise reducing earplugs found here which seem to be doing the trick). Actually I eventually bought myself a pair as well..it helps me get into “the zone” so to speak.The only thing that I thought was weird is that it comes in a huge box! Like it’s not even the same size as the sticks. Who’s idea was it to do that?? Another downer that I want to mention is the tape. The drumsticks are held together by a strip out of the box but it’s SO hard to remove properly. You know how sometimes when you remove a sticker there’s that icky sticky residue leftover? That’s what you’ll get with these. It took me probably half an hour just to get it all off. It seems like I’m not the only person with the problem either as multiple people have mentioned the same thing on amazon.But I don’t regret buying them. They feel good in my hands and are a great weight. 9/10 would buy again :)

Wood stix are awesome but can only take so many hits before they succumb and are diminished to toothpicks. They do the job however buy many.

I’ve been using Vic Firth 5AN nylon tip sticks for more years than I can remember. I like them best because the balance feels just right in my hands, the tips never wear out or come off - ever, and the finish has just the right amount of tackiness so they don’t slip. The only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is that they dent more easily than some other sticks. I suppose the way the wood is dried differs from some other brands. Anyway, I gig frequent;y and these never let me down.

My wife is a beginner drummer. I wanted to encourage her to play by providing a name brand stick as opposed to the generic one that came with the drum kit. The quality is as to be expected from an industry leader with years of service in producing a great product.Price and quality are very affordable, and the free shipping is always welcome.

i'm a 62yr beginner, have a nice yamaha electronic set and would have never thought that drum sticks could make that much difference until the stix that came with the set split and i bought these.like night and day, the quality the weight and just the right feel in my hands.so if your a beginner give them a try

Great sticks, I use them on a drum pad and they are very nice on the hands.

Grip is good and lasts. This is our second pair but she hasn’t opened them yet because the drift ones are still going, two years later
