Only issue is it's a little shallow for a receiver. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Smart and subtantial unit - but please read this for a couple of tips you might find useful . *by J***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 7, 2018* A very nicely made TV display unit that takes you straight back to the 1970s in its' design concept. Make no mistake, this is a kit - a very good kit, with good quality parts - but a kit nevertheless. I counted well over 100 parts taking the screws and washers into account. It is also heavy. Full instructions are included, together with basic tools (though if you have a couple of Phillips head screwdrivers and an Allen key of appropriate size of your own, it will make the job easier if you use them) and a pair of cotton gloves. Guide time for one person to construct they suggest is 75 minutes - I took nearer two hours.Construction is actually very straightforward - it's a box with dividers. All parts fit well and are very well labelled. You do need to make a couple of decisions on the way and you might well choose to amend things. Firstly, measure the electrical components that you intend to put into the unit - amp, sat box, dvd player, games consoles, etc., and make sure they will fit. Particularly in depth, as this unit is not over generous in that respect (this might also affect your TV if its' a large screen model with a splayed stand - worth checking first). Remember to allow for the cables coming from the back, and for ventilation. The floor of the unit has ventilation slots, the top does not. You might find that omitting the glass shelves makes life a little easier for stacking your bits - this isn't a problem as you can leave this choice until the unit is up and running as the shelves and their supports can be installed after finishing construction.Think carefully about whether you want to install the backplate of the unit, which is held permanently in position by screwing the base into place. First consideration is whether this will restrict the fit of your electrical components, and a close second is installation of connecting cables - particularly if you have a lot of speaker cables. This will be a nightmare with the back in place and no clear access to the connections on the back of your electrical components - I found this out the hard way and had to dismantle the unit in order to remove the back so that I could access the connections, so learn from my error. Structurally the back plate adds nothing, and its' absence assists ventilation. I intend to modify the plate in time by using a sharp cutter to trim a couple of mm or so off the bottom edge, thus enabling a click fit addition and removal; then I can stuff all the cables behind it and keep matters tidier whilst still having access when needed.Apart from that, the only actual problem that I encountered on assembly was that one of the magnetic door catches failed to latch properly - this was fixed easily by exercising the barrel of the latch and checking the door alignment.All in all a very smart and substantial unit. If you have chosen the wood topped variety then it will need a coat of wax on top when you've finished. If the black, then once the protective plastic has been peeled off then welcome to the world of constant fingermarks (that's what the cotton gloves supplied were actually for!). And despite the glass in the drop down doors being designated as "remote control friendly" then take my word for it - they're not unless you are very close with the remote controler. Practically, you'll be operating this unit with the doors down and everything on view - and that's why I've knocked a star off the rating.Hope you find this review helpful.
