Stranded (The Prometheus Project)

This is the third and apparently the last book of Douglas Richards' three-part science fiction series that was written for young people but which adults will enjoy. The book is the longest of the three volumes, which is good because it is so enjoyable and engrossing. It is a fast paced and intense drama, full of action, clever ideas, likable characters, and sparkling dialogue. The book continues to focus on the two youngsters Ryan, now age 15 with a crush on the daughter of one of the scientists working with his mother, and his sister Regan, two years younger; two exceptionally bright kids, who try to hide their intelligence and abilities. This book has more humorous sibling rivalry combined with strong feelings of care for each other than in the previous volumes. The principle plot focuses on the theft of a powerful alien object and the two kids, their parents, other scientists, and two guards being stranded on an alien planet and hunted by ferocious animals. The book includes interesting and enlightening discussions on many scientific subjects in a very entertaining and frequently funny way. These include discussions about evolution, the use of the senses, light years, black holes, traveling to other dimensions, and is peanut butter one of the world's most nutritious foods.

My comment is in regard to Book 1 in this series: The Prometheus Project: Trapped. I enjoyed reading the Prometheus Project, but its heroes are teens, and it is definitely a young readers' novel. I was quite disappointed when I realized that. As a teen, which I was once, I'd have loved it. Still, I saw a great deal of promise at the beginning, but the story really wasn't developed in a way to please adult sci-fi readers. It was a good enough story, though, that I'm thinking more seriously about purchasing Kindles for my grandchildren at Christmas.

Juvenile sci fi, but a good one. Enjoyed this one and the previous 2. I give 4 or 5 review's a year out of a few hundred books. This was a good series and i purchased them after reading them. Highly recommend the series, lots of fun!

Put off reading this series because it was for "kids." Got tired of waiting for the next "adult" book so decided to take a chance. While the scope of these kid's knowledge is a little frightening, Richard's writes with the same mind boggling scientific research and drama as in all of his books. Great reads ... 👍🏼

This is the third book in a very thought provoking YA series based on a very clever concept. It is fast paced, well thought out and written well enough for adults to enjoy.

I'm a bit disoriented when I finished reading. Most of all, so many good guessing and reasoning seem to be too much talk when it wasn't at very auspicious times. And the strangest thing happened. The mastermind behind the crime went unpunished and even rewarded with added memberships of the most secret mission of all. Is it only me who think that it is strange? Well, there's another drawback. There were much educational resources, which was good. However, this somewhat was troublesome distractions that would interrupt the entire story going smoothly. Despite those concerns, it was generally creative and throughly enjoyable.

I loved this book! It was action packed from beginning to end and will totally keep you reading! Great for kids 13-19!!

The Prometheus series of books is so good I tell people who want a fun adventurous thriller they should read it whether they are ten or ninety. The dynamic plot really captures your attention and the brave teen characters are kids that most anyone would like to have in their family. I really hope there will be another book added to this series! Highly recommend.

Good series to bring to kids why things are as they are. For example, why do we feel pain like we do. Answer, because when we don't, we don't know that we're being injured. Not sure which book that one was out of, but up to now the series has several examples like that. The kids in the story learn these things and in turn the young reader learns them. Great read if you have a kid that likes science fiction.

Having read the first two parts and enjoyed them I then finished by reading Book 3. It's a bit longer and reflects the fact that the author's son and daughter are older. It was originally written for them, and their namesakes are the main characters in this SciFi adventure. There's alien technology beyond human understanding in the story, but human science is accurately portrayed and described. Like other books by the same author, I found it to be an easy-to-read page turner.

Loves the 2 books - can't wait to read the third. It's such an interesting and innovative slant to the fate of man.

This is the 3rd book of a trilogy and although it's a great book for kids some adults might like it as well.
