Resilient. Clean. Durable.
Bought this ages (years) ago. It is still chugging along, filtering well with no breach in mesh or plastic frame. We use it for hot coffee & fine grains of kefir. No problems.

Good quality
It's a particularly high quality strainer. Very good workmanship, no burrs or rough spots on the plastic. The mesh is a coarser mesh compared to a cheaper one I have. Perfect for separating kefir grains from kefir, although I prefer straining a second time with a finer strainer afterwards. Recommended!

Good strainer for Milk Kefir
I bought this on a Friday evening and it arrived on Sunday afternoon. Item arrived quickly and in good condition. The strainer is all white plastic with nylon mesh and the diameter of the strainer measures 5 inches. The fit and finish is good. The plastic is sturdy, smooth, and has no burrs leftover from manufacturing. This strainer fits and sits perfectly on my 1 Quart (aka 1L/1000ml/4cup) Pyrex glass measuring cup. I bought this for making/straining milk kefir at home. The size of the mesh is also perfect for straining the kefir grains out of the finished kefir. It can filter even the smallest kefir grains while still allowing the kefir through and the size of the mesh helps break up the coagulated milk proteins into finer particles making for a smoother kefir texture. This strainer works perfectly for my needs and is easy to clean.

Nicely packaged, individually wrapped, well made, nice assortment of four sizes double-ear
These nylon strainers come in one large plastic bag, but inside that bag, they are individually wrapped. I have attached three photos to show packaging, the four assorted sizes with a visual aid to help you 'see' the different sizes. The first photo shows the strainers before I unpack them. The second photo shows all four strainers, and to help with visual sizing, I put a one cup pyrex measuring cup inside the biggest strainer (7 inches). The third photo shows that same measuring cup inside the second biggest strainer along with a 16 ounce plastic bottle over the top of the third and fourth largest strainers. The sizes are truly a nice variety and should handle most of your needs, unless you're cooking a large pot of pasta, spaghetti, or needing to perhaps rinse a large amount of vegetables or fruit, then you'll need to grab your colander. These strainers are well made, not flimsy. The double ear allows for security and stability when placing over the top of a receptacle such as a pan or bowl. The nylon is a nice strength, the mesh is quite tiny making them perfect for rinsing quinoa, and they are easy to rinse clean. The handles and ears are sturdy, and the handles have a handy 'hanging hole'. I am very happy with my purchase, and was pleased to see the care that was taken in packaging this set of nylon strainers. I bought mine because I make my own kefir and prefer not to use a metal strainer when draining my kefir grains. As long as you take care of your strainers, use the correct size for your project, wash, dry and put them away when you've completed your task, this nice set should last you for years. Given the variety of sizes I shouldn't need to buy another set for a very, very long time. My bigger projects will call for my colander. Summary: Nicely packaged, well made, nice variety of sizes, nylon not metal so no worries about interaction with acidic foods, will last several years. I feel you will be well pleased should you decide to buy this set. I gave a four star as opposed to a five star rating because even though quite sturdy, they are plastic and if not used correctly, such as using the right size for your project, conceivably, they could crack. That said, I again stress that this set is quite sturdy and will service you well.

Great strainer for kefir grains
I use the mesh strainers for when I make Kefir. Great quality and the price is great considering it came as a 4 pack.

Good quality and sent fast.
I bought this strainer several years ago to make my kefir - which I make every morning. I purchased this one for a friends who is in Wisconsin and wants to make kefir. It is not metal so it will not hurt my kefir grains and it is small enough mesh to not let the new little grains to escape. It has been a wonderful asset for to make our morning kefir.

Smaller than advertised. 4" won't work for kefir grains.
The 4" is very small - it measures 3" side-to-side. The inside mesh measures about 2-5/8". If it hadn't been for the attached label stating 4" I would have thought I received the 3". (The 3" must be REALLY small then.) If you are planning on using it for kefir this won't even hold a tablespoon of grains without spilling over the kefir. And although the mesh is the perfect size, the small diameter wouldn't work for rinsing uncooked quinoa or amaranth either unless you're only washing 1-2 Tbs at a time. From the other reviews I understand the larger sizes also have wider mesh so quinoa would run right through which is the problem I have with my stainless steel (SS) mesh strainers. As far as kefir, you can use your SS strainers without worry about metal reactions. This is what my local raw dairy farmer uses. (But I did get some frozen grains that wouldn't multiply, so who knows.) Apparently only Kombucha is sure to react with SS and this is because Kombucha attracts and chelates heavy metals so it could draw the nickel and chromium out of the SS. The other reason for the poor rating is there is no indication these are made without BPA's, PVC and phthalates. The seller, while responding to other questions here, has chosen to remain silent so far. I just posted another question on the topic so we'll see if they respond. There is no indication on the label that they are even BPA-free (although the other materials mentioned are every bit as dangerous as BPA). But there is no California Proposition 65 warning on the label either. I gave this 3 stars instead of only 1 because nylon mesh is hard to find and I suppose it can be useful at times. But because I'm concerned about the potential for hormone disrupting toxicity it might be wise to stick to using SS strainers or, best, organic cheesecloth.

It’s a great strainer/sieve. I had a strainer like this for a long time and it finally wore down after several years of usage but most stores now only carry metal/steel ones. I like how it’s plastic and nylon because the metal/steel ones often are prone to rust and as a result, concerning when it comes to health and food safety. It’s lighter as well but not flimsy, overall comfortable. The 5.5 in one is not that small, so no worries. Last but not least, it’s an add-on item so it’s very affordable.

The nylon sieves are great for making my kambucha.
