Breast Milk Storage
In an attempt to expose my baby to as limited amount of plastic as possible, I started brainstorming freezer safe options for breast milk storage. These eliminate the waste of those plastic milk storage bags. I fill up these mason jars in 2.5, 3, and 3.5 oz increments. I haven't filled them to the top since milk expands when frozen. One jar is usually enough of a meal for my 3 month old son. Thawing is easy. I can take a jar from the freezer, place it in a bowl of warm water, and it's thawed in minutes. I use the box the jars came in to carve out my storage space in the freezer. While at work, I pump about 18oz between three sessions. When I get home, I fill up 5 jars with 3.5oz each and place them in the freezer. I remove 6 jars from my freezer stash and send them with my son to the sitter everyday.I purchased the 24 pack of 4oz jars. I also purchased the bpa-free Ball jar storage lids.

Would be great if they didn't rust INSTANTLY
My girlfriend has always been a fan of Starbucks Sous Vide Egg Bites. So I wanted to try making my own egg bites. Enter the Ball 4oz crystal jars- smooth inside, no taper on the top, perfect for making egg bites and scraping them out.In that purpose they work quite nicely. The glass is smooth and easy to grease, the size is perfect for sous vide egg bites, and they're easy to clean. However these have one serious flaw- the metal lids and screw rings are NOT stainless, not even a little bit. After coming out of the sous vide water bath the VERY FIRST time they were starting to rust. Dishwashing has only created more rust. The underside of the lid (the part that touches food) is coated with a non stick material, and that so far has not rusted so I am still using the jars. That and their otherwise good usability is the only reason they get 3 stars. However with the increasing rust I suspect these jars will probably only last 8 or 10 cook sessions, which is a shame.Really unfortunate that jars designed for being submerged in water aren't rust resistant. Seems an obvious requirement for a canning jar to be stainless.

Ball 4 oz jars
Product arrived on time and in good condition. I was a little concerned about the lack of padding and protection in the shipping box since these are glass jars. However, fortunately there was no breakage. Good product that is what I expected.

My old reliable favorite every time!
Just as expected. I have used Ball jars for years, for all kinds of canning and storage needs. I purchased these to use as part of a bridal shower favor where the jar is filled with bath salts for each guest. Perfect and adorable as always. These are always good quality, with no defects or sharp edges. That's super important to me since they end up ultimately back in the canning cupboard where an error in a jar can mean trouble with a canned item down the road. These are my old reliable favorite every time!I purchased this item at regular selling price. No discounts or promotional codes were used and this review is strictly my own opinions. Thanks for reading!

Perfect
These were exactly what I was looking for and work perfectly. I use them for canning, for storing (a serving of food, dressing), homemade toothpaste or lotion or candles. I serve my 4 year old applesauce out of them and what she doesn't eat at that moment, I put a lid and refrigerate until the next meal. Also, I use them to hold my sauerkraut down while it is fermenting. We find a million uses for them. Highly recommend.
