OUR STORY: My daughter was four years old when she went to see our ophthalmologist for the first time. He began to treat her lazy eye by having her wear an eye patch for 2 hours a day. For one year we battled with the tears and trauma that came with the sticker patches. It was one of the hardest things she had to do. When the doctor told us she needed to continue patching for another year, I set out to find a 'happier' solution. That is when I designed a reusable patch made of felt that would slip over her eyeglasses, offering peripheral occlusion and most of all-comfort, as it didn't adhere to her skin. She happily patched for another year, completely tear-free, and successfully regained sight in her lazy eye! My daughter was severely cross eyed in one eye, and we had to patch for almost 2 years before surgery. We tried adhesive patches, but they were applied directly to the skin, and we lost many eyebrow hairs.
