I tried my friend's 2nd edition game a long time ago, and I'm interested in buying the game for myself. What expansions would go with the 3rd edition?

What are all the expansions? Will they be released as 3rd edition or are 2nd edition expansions ok with 3rd edition base game?

The next expansion out will be 15, in which you traverse the desert to get to Las Vegas. This is the first expansion to be released after Mayfair acquired Twilight Creations.As far as we know, there is nothing preventing you from using 2nd edition expansions with your 3rd edition game.

Do i need the original game to play this ?

This is a base game. it is the original game.

Can this game be played Solo?

It could. Every turn, the player controls where their player piece and where zombie pieces go. It's much more fun against someone, because you can move zombies in their path, or out of your path, but you definitely can play alone to get used to the game.
