If I put the transformer to manually on manually off and set it to on And I go to the switch that controls the outlet and turn that off it resets it and makes me go back to the transformer to turn it back on

After working via internet with a DIYer, I found the user guide at Home Depot and product description, which is misleading. It has a timer, but it only works with the photosensor. That is, you set the number of hours it will keep your lights on AFTER the photosensor turns it on.It is totally unsuited for shady areas or where a photo sensor won't work.IMO, describing it with a timer like most transformers used for low V lighting, is misleading and causes people to buy the wrong product. Those that expected to rely exclusively on a timer to turn their lights on and off CAN'T. And it appears that when plugged into an external timer, after the timer shuts it off, the transformer resets to the off position, which means one must daily turn it on and off. With an external timer, at least it shuts it off. SAD PRODUCT DESCRIPTION.
