By men for men
This came quickly and in good shape. It is nice to have a book for men written by men on shame. Women seem to handle shame issues easier. So far, all those who borrow from my shelf have found it super helpful!

So Long, Scapegoat
Alan Wright's message of "shame off you" is very significant for the religious community. People of different denominational stripes often use shame-based techniques to control and manipulate others, not always for religious purposes though. I found Chapter seven to be very enlightening as Wright explains that Jesus not only takes away our guilt, but also our shame - He bore our sorrows as well. Actually, shame is at the root of many of our ills. The same ills that cause emotional pain that lure us into all sorts of harmful sources of anesthesia like alcohol and drug abuse and myriad bad choices. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has made atonement for our guilt and shame in order that we might live, joyfully and guilt-free, in Him. This book will especially be helpful to those who have unwittingly played the role of scapegoat to people who play the "blame/shame game" on a regular basis. You don't have to play that role in their lives! Shame off you!!

Shame off me
I read this book as part of a small group at my church. It has fundamentally changed my perspective on some of the issues I had with many things I have been encountering. I honestly thought the book would be fluff because of the title but truly transformational insight. In particular the sections about scapegoats and people pleasing...wrecked me as it reflected myself. The last chapter was the perfect way to end. I strongly recommend this book.

Very freeing
When a counselor at my church recommended I read this book, I wasn't sure why because I didn't think I had any "shame" issues. I was amazed after the author explains what shame really is, and how we all have some level of shame in our lives. For me, this book has given me a new found freedom in life and in my walk with God. Filled with sound Christian doctrine and uplifting scripture. His insights are deep and well-researched, and he covers a wide spectrum of the causes of our shame. He leaves the reader feeling very educated on shame, but also very encouraged and equipped on how to proceed in throwing OFF our shame.

A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE
This book is amazing! Alan Wright has brought to light a problem that everyone faces to some degree. The enemy uses such mean and wicked tactics to drive a wedge between us and the freedom that God desires for us. One of the most effective weapons that he uses is shame.Alan helps the reader to clearly see that God loves us unconditionally and there is no amount of good deeds that we can perform that will help us to gain His approval. He already approves of us, loves us and is crazy about us no matter how we behave!READ THE BOOK!!!!
