More Than Happy With This Machine!
My karaoke player arrived 2 days early, and well packed. Now for the product:VocoPro continues, in my opinion to be the best manufacturer of karaoke equipment. This product is no exception. Everything was in great condition out of the box. The batteries for the remote were fully charged, and the remote worked fine, I hooked the machine up to my Behringer 800 watt mixer and pair of 12 inch speakers. It read my CD-R with no problem, and the music was clear with more than enough headroom for the volume. The CD drive is quiet and it read my CD in just a couple of seconds, and played the CD automatically just like any other player. The mics, although not top-of-the-line are solidly built and more than adequate for most uses. The mic cords could be longer, and the RCA wires that it came with it could be better quality, but they do the job. Finally I created a MUSIC folder on my USB thumb drive and put a dozen songs on it (in MP3 format). Despite the fact there were other files and folders on the thumb drive, the machine found the songs and played them. The remote is fully functional. The only thing I noticed is to turn the power on and off with the remote, the power button on the machine must be pushed in (in the power on position), otherwise the power button on the remote does nothing. The pitch changer works fine, a great karaoke feature I was looking for. The echo feature is not that good. It's NOT a REVERB processor, but remember, the machine is only $125 - $150.In conclusion, VocoPro packed a lot of quality and features in this machine for an inexpensive price. It's great for home use or at gigs as a music player with some karaoke features to connect to a professional system.

disappointing performance and quality
This unit had problems as soon as I powered it on. I tried to press the "open" or "eject" button on both the unit and the remote, and I saw a "tray error" message appear on the display. I put in a usb stick with mp3+g karaoke songs on them, and the unit would not recognize the graphics and only played the music, with a cheap sounding quality to it. VocoPro has produced some quality products in the past, but somehow, this unit missed quality control. I returned it and instead bought another brand that works fine.

A great mid-level system with microphones included!
I was having a hard time finding an "adult karaoke" system that wasn't made for a child or wasn't a professional system. I came across this and have been very happy. It's definitely not the best quality. You can feel it's cheaply made. However, it is not junk. It looks clean and has many options. I have had some issues with the volume of the music being louder than the singer but I believe after tweaking some settings, I have it worked out. I would purchase it again and recommend it for an at home adult karaoke system. It is way too complicated for children and it is far from a professional system but it has been a great Inbetween. Also mics are included! Huge plus!

ONLY buy VOCOPRO! (read)
If you are looking to get a karaoke player ALWAYS go with VOCOPRO!! I don't work for them or anything but I bought my first VOCOPRO over ten years ago (The DVG380K) and it worked great! I recently bought a ACESONIC and it totally SUCKED!! I mean not kind of sucked, TOTALLY SUCKED!! I sold it on ebay and bought this unit and this is a great unit!! Works perfect like it should! I saw people giving the ACESONIC good reviews and am assuming that they have never owned any other brand and think that that's just how a karaoke player functions... I mean the sound was delayed through the mic, it wouldn't register your voice until you reached a certain volume and more, it was the worst ever and shouldn't be sold!!! Buy this unit and know that it will do exactly what a karaoke player is suppose to do and it will do it perfectly.... Always choose VOCOPRO and you can't go wrong. This unit came with 2 mics and 2 cords and although I have a professional mic I use these mics worked surprisingly good and are just fine for the weekend singer!!

The test of your patience
As it turns out, there are not too many DVD karaoke players that are both good DVD and good karaoke machines. I used to own a RjTech unit, which happened to be terribly unreliable, and chose this one as a replacement. On a positive side, this unit has a reasonably good karaoke function for 2 singers. But here is the list of negatives:1. Out of the box the unit comes preset for either RCA analog video, or digital S-video. So, if you, like most, want to use component or HDMI, you have to plug it via RCA or S-video, and change the setting using on-screen menu. This is not in the manual, by the way, but my old RjTech was the same way, so I figured it out. However, despite enabling the HDMI output in the menu I still could not get it to work. Also, if you want to use component - you have to select either YMA, Y/Pb/Pr or RGB option - so you connect via RCA, pick one, see if it works, if it does not - switch back to RCA, choose the next one, etc. Good thing you have nothing else to do, right?2. It comes pre-set for 480 resolution. So, if you want to change - there are multiple options of resolutions and frequencies. If you pick a wrong one - you are out of luck - you get a blinking screen and you won't be able to change it back, because you no longer able to see the on-screen menu. The way out for some reason is the PAL/NTSC switch on a remote - found it by pressing all the buttons, again, nothing in the manual.3. The audio output is via RCA analog, digital optical or coax, or 5.1 channel. Tried to use optical and coax - still was not getting full digital output, until changed some settings in audio menu. The settings are labeled with the bunch of letters the meaning of which is not known to me, or explained in the manual. The manual keeps referring you to the instructions for the device you are connecting to, which does not help most of the time.4. Blu-Ray disks are not played, outright rejected. OK, you don't give me Blu_Ray video output, but what does it take in 2014 to install a drive that will at least read them? Those drives are in every laptop nowadays.5. The microphone will only play via the analog R/L RCA audio outputs - not even through the 5.1 channel ones! OK, I may not want to hear myself sing through the digital surround sound, but if I use this thing as a karaoke AND a DVD player, I have to connect it to the audio equipment twice - digital and analog.6. The included microphones stink, and the cords are too short. Luckily, I had some others. As this unit is 5 days old, the reliability remains to be discoveredSo, I was a minute away from re-packing it and sending it back, when I finally made it work, and also realized that there are not too many other choices. Of course, the reasonable choice is to just buy a good Blu-Ray DVD player to watch DVDs, and use this thing for karaoke only, something I may consider doing to keep my blood pressure under control.

BUYER BEWARE, THIS IS CRAP AND I WONT BE FOOLED AGAIN. Shame on Amazon for letting companies do business like this. Shame on me for not checking

Poor sound quality when directly inputting microphone.
Good product for the price. A little slow in loading songs. Sound quality produced through the mic inputs are poor. Had to purchase a mixer with digital effects to solve this problem.
