I tried several others. This is the one.
I tried the magnetic kind that go outside the bore, (don't bother wasting your time on that! They scratch your gun, overpriced, and inaccurate). This product however works great, it is plug and play. It does seem to aim high, but I don't know if it's due to bullet drop or physics. Aside from that, side to side it is centered, and I like that you can turn it on and off by the switch. I would have liked to have had a thicker cable, but I haven't had any issues. I tried cheap laser sighters, I tried really expensive laser sighters, and they all failed terribly. This is the one that was just right in terms of consistency and functionality. I wish I'd tried it first, it would have saved me a lot of time and effort!

Good boresight for .22LR or .22 WMR rifle.
This little boresight is awesome! You have to take your time and be patient. I placed it in my Savage Arms to sight in my scope and it is a little difficult to get in and out of the chamber, but patience is a virtue. Once I got it in and placed the laser on the bulls eye at 25 yards, sighting in my scope was a breeze. I used it to sight in my new Nikon P-RIMFIRE BDC 150 reticle scope and had it sighted in at 25 yards in 2 shots and less than 10 minutes. I spent more time putting the boresight in and removing it than I did sighting in the scope. The laser is bright and easy to see at 25 yards. I will be using this to sight in another Nikon scope on my Ruger 10/22. Well worth the $, and although I have not used the mini boresight that looks like a thermometer, I can say that this type seems easier and more accurate to me if you just need a boresight for .22 LR or .22WMR. I like it. You have to be careful not to pull on the cord or slam it in the action when placing it in and taking it out but like I said, "with patience", it works great.

Hard to get in and out of gun barrel but a pair of needle nose pliers would help.
the small bore of the 22 makes it a challenge to get the laser in and out of the gun but this was expected ... a small pair of needle nose pliers or needle drivers (roach clips) would do the trick. Be mindful of the wire coming from the battery to the laser is small and fragile. great product works well. Sighted my scope at night with the red laser no problems...a little harder to see in daylite. good luck

Excellent 22 cal wired laser bore sighter
Is simple to use and protect the wire. This works for any laser boresighter whether it has a wire or not. Cut a small bit of cloth rag. I used an 8" x 6" piece of a pair of athletic shorts. For larger caliber & wireless sighters a much larger rag can be used. Lock the bolt back. Put the sighter in thru the ejection port. Roll the rag & push it up thru the mag well. For wireless sighters you can jam the rag in through the ejection port. Slowly (very slowly) let the bolt compress rag against the the sighter. Push the rag toward the far wall of the receiver so that it doesn't stress the wire but securely holds the sighter in the chamber. (This step doesn't apply to non-wire sighters.) I wasn't impressed with the storage case - I think it is it too small and will stress the wire to use it. (But it is a good size to put other wireless cartridge type sighters in.) I very carefully opened the package so I could store the sighter in the clear plastic it was packed in (with the sighter appendage part removed).

The best.
The best I have used. Far more secure than the end of barrel type. Gets you close and priced fairly. Bright, and no tiny watch batteries. Very nice.

Great!
The external battery pack is great, no tiny short lived expensive batteries needed.

Sort of works
So this thing is a great idea in concept. Was looking forward to zeroing my new scope before wasting a box of ammo trying to even get the thing on paper. Unfortunately it's kind of a poor execution in practice. Firstly it's very difficult in my semi auto rifle to get this into the barrel. It just BARELY fits and I have to use a pair of hemostats to get it lined up. Secondly it has a ridge on it that doesn't sit exactly flush with the end of barrel. So I installed it and then I get a fuzzy half moon shaped light coming out the other end. I have to lock the action back, and then fiddle around with it until I get a solid laser dot. VERY carefully don't move anything and then zero the scope to the dot. I was hoping this laser would load like a bullet and sit snug in the barrel. That is just not the case. I have seriously considered returning it, but unfortunately I don't see anything that is much better of an option. I can't bore site the gun as I can't see down the barrel with the action removed. Just the way my gun is designed. So I give it three stars. It sort of works but it's not exactly what I expecting. It's very fiddly and hard to install and remove. It has to be aligned just so for it to actually project a solid dot through the barrel of the gun.
