If you ever need to carve out vast swaths, reach for this
So I just demolished my way to a clean square hole through a 6 inch log with this. I know, it's from England, so let's say rather a 14cm log. I expected the edge to be dulled after that but I can't even find anything to sharpen. Welcome to my toolbox, Crown Tools Mortise chisel!

Very pleased with the quality
This chisel is strong and comfortable to use. It holds its edge well and withstands heavy mallet blows. If you are currently using standard chisels to cut mortises, I strongly recommend stepping up to a proper mortise chisel as it will save your standard chisels for their intended purpose, and save you a lot of frustration by cutting mortises with ease comparatively. Make sure to keep a stone handy when using it to keep its edge razor sharp so that it continues to cut the wood fibers rather than just prying them apart. I am sure I will be purchasing a few more of these beauties in the near future.

high quality
I like how well made this chisel is, it has parallel sides and makes square holes.

Not as advertised
I ordered three sizes. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". The tools look nice and quality is as expected for the price. Disappointment is with the actual size. They are metric. The only one that actually is equivalent to standard is the 3/8". The difference on the other two is a solid 1/16" smaller. Listed as standard sizes and I expected such. I went back to check how they were listed on my order to make sure I did not make a mistake. They are listed as I thought. If a close size is of no concern then they look like nice tools. I expected true sizing.

Outstanding Quality, Beautiful and Great to Use.
These are really great chisels. The steel looks to be of top quality and is beautifully ground. The edges on these mortise chisels are dead flat, and the bevel tip is ground perfectly flat. The tip definitely needs to be honed upon receipt, as I think is typical of all chisels. The handle is very comfortable - long and well shaped (6"). The leather shock washer between the steel and the handle is a nice touch - not sure it's necessary, but is indicative of the quality. I think these will be really nice to use for a very long time.

A fine chisel
Only took a little bit of fussing, less than 20" to flatten the back and polish the edge. Put right to work cutting many mortises for some screen doors. Touched it up after each door (12 mortise per door). Worked like a champ.
