Save the mess versus bulk DI resin. I've done it both ways and using bulk DI resin and refillable canisters is the most economical but of course it is also more time consuming and messy. For just a bit more $ you can avoid the work and mess. For me this makes sense as I only use about 4 canisters per year so the cost difference is certainly negligible.

I chose this because my last resin units went way to fast, a few hours of running and they were all yellow and ineffective. this was double vacuum packed, and has worked well, due to the prior company's inferior resins, I had an issue with my large aquarium, several days of water changes, my PPM meter still reads 0.00 and the resins are all still like new (from what I can see).Another consideration, beside a different brand, was the reusable cartridge, and just getting new beads, seemed like less waste, and this company has beads only packs. I did notice the rival cartridge is a reusable unit too, I also saw beads working through the materials on the bottom, and those bottom cap mats may need replacing too. So I may just buy a new cartridge when the beads change, freshness over ecology.

This resin has lasted longer than any I have purchased from salt water fish stores.

The bag was a little ripped by the time it got here, and it is definitely not the best way to transfer into the cartridge. But I am still down at .002 tds after the resin has done a complete color change.

I have a well for my house/drinking water. I discovered I have an excessive amount of nitrates in my water that was causing health issues. I know this is primarily for fish tanks, but I used it on my drinking water. It removed all of the nitrates and brought my TDS down to 4 ppm. Because of my house's plumbing, it's difficult to install a complete RO system. This works amazing and the water tastes delicious. I didn't notice a drop in pressure or water flow with this.

I bought this bc I have high silicates in my water and am having problems with diatoms in my aquarium. I did many hours of research on how to reduce or remove silicates and this filter is what I ended up buying. However, when I run water thru it and then test the water, the silicates are the same as my tap water and the TDS actually got higher. Don't waste your money.
