Simpson Strong-Tie APLH24R 2 X 4 Rough Concealed-Flange Light Joist Hanger Powder Coated Black - Pack of 4

The brackets themselves are sturdy and well made. They are not for a typical 2x4 from the store since a 2x4 from the store really isn’t 2in wide. A 2x4 from the store is only 1.5 in wide. You can push the ends of the bracket together to make it work but it won’t look good and won’t keep the wood in place as well. If you have a piece of wood that is actually 2in wide, this bracket would work well. I wish there was a better description for these when I bought them because I would have bought a different set.

This is a sturdy hanger and it looks very nice with the concealed hanger. It was a little loose for the 2x4, but I don't mind shimming the back of it. Because it's concealed, the hardware appearance doesn't matter as much and they don't send you any, so you have to figure out what to use with it, but for a small garden feature, it was perfect.

Does not fit a 2x4 as stated in the description. Must fit a true old 2x4 but not the ones that are standard nowadays which are 1 5/8.

Not sure what these fit. These aren't for rough sawn cedar 2x4 either. They're too wide and not tall enough.

As most of you have figured this out, these are for actual 2x4 wood and not the ones in store which are 1.5 x 3.5. You need to buy "Simpson Strong-Tie APLH24" and NOT "Simpson Strong-Tie APLH24R". The difference is "R" at the end. I found this out on other hardware supply store. I wish the seller had put a better description.

Great product! They are for 2x4s. You just have to give them a bit of a squeeze when mounting. If I need more in the future, I'll buy more.

Very good quality. Sturdy and well finished. I used them to attach semi permanently roosting bars in my chicken run. Time will tell, but I think they will last a long time. Will buy again soon
