The light is called a 13" light, that is the length of the entire display/framing. The lenses is 14" but bent at each end, creating a 13" of flat surface. But I found the light itself is only 10". That is what usable light you have. This is a bit small but ok for a small dent.I opted for the cord because I didn't think I would use it that much and wanted it to last many years. A rechargeable battery will quickly die and leave you with something you cannot use. The problem I found is the cord gets out of hand. It's very long and had multiple connections. One from the light to a quick connection. Then a quick connect to a car lighter plug. Then another cord from the car light to an adapter. What a mess to deal with, it was a big bundle of cord. And the car connector often came a little loose and the light would go out. Plugging into the car is not workable because you need to have the car started. Not something I would want to do in a garage. I found the cord a bit too much to deal with. A simple 6 foot cord that attaches to an extension cord would have been better.Another issue I had with the light is the lens. I wanted to be able to switch from fog to lines. The lenses does come out but is very difficult to remove. The lens has a bend at each end. This is what holds the lens in place so it does not slide out. The problem is that it takes a bit of force to move it. And I feel over time it will wear the lens out or break it. Not a great option if you want to change lens. One big negative, the light housing is metal. And you need to be very careful around car paint with it. I used a piece of carpet under the light housing to protect the car in case the suction fails. But with all this care I did end up scratching the clear coat on my car roof. I was later able to polish that out but I realized a light with rubber or plastic framing would be much better. When you are busy working it is easy to bump the car with the light. The light is bright and you can see dents well. The suction is very good and attaches easily.A couple features missing features, there is no light level control. You can only turn each light strip on or off, no dimming. The light colors are fixed.I found that for about $50 dollars more you can get a light with a plastic housing, rubber corners, 6 LED strips that can be turned on/off or dimmed and can be either white or yellow color. And no cord needed. Runs off a DeWalt battery which I already had. And DeWalt batteries will be around for a long time. They still support their original battery tools.

Excellent customer service available if needed.
If you can't see the dent, you can't fix it.
