Gamvar Picture Varnish - 16oz Bottle

This is the best varnish, for both oil and acrylics! It really brought out the colors, the depth and shadows. Now my paintings are as good as new and looks so fresh, a little glossy. The packaging was excellent and there was no leakage. Thank you so much for delivering in good condition.

First do oiling out on the oil painting to have even gloss on entire painting. After that is touch dry in few days, than apply thinly the Gamvar gloss varnish. In this way you will find that the entire painting is properly and evenly varnished. If oiling out is not done, there maybe uneven varnish gloss after varnishing. Fault is not of Gamvar, but rather of artist in not doing oiling out before varnish application.

Gives the gloss but It won't dry and stays sticky even after very long time,. I guess they've sent duplicate product. Definitely not worth for this price.

Right before a show, varnished three dozen oil paintings that were painted with not top of the line paint and the Gamvar deepened the saturation and provided a nice, not obnoxious gloss.

I am new to adding varnish to my paintings. I did two large collages and this was a great final top coat I did over a cross-hatch of gloss gel medium. At my first show using this many people commented on the final finish. This makes you work have a museum presentation. I will be doing varnishes many more times in the future - 5 stars.

I've been painting in oils for a while, however, this is the first time I've varnished my paintings. Reviewing articles and YouTube videos, Gamvar seems to be the standard among oil painters. So, I thought I would try it and Gamvar delivered as advertised. It was super easy to apply and perfectly dry overnight. I applied one coat with a soft brush which created a semi-gloss sheen, perfect for my paintings. Had I known varnishing would be this hassle-free I would have done it years ago.

Easy to apply as soon as your painting is dry to the touch. Very nice gloss. Gets back the brilliance of the paint as when it is wet. It is very thin, so apply carefully to prevent runs. Drying flat is actually the best. Usually allow about 12 hours to dry before shipping. This pint will last a long time. I pour out a small amount in a vessel and then return the leftover to the bottle, using a funnel is best.
