Bowhunting Whitetails the Eberhart Way

A MUST Have Book for your deer library
Anybody who knows anything about deer hunting will easilly recognize the authors of "Bowhunting Whitetails" - John & Chris Eberhart as expert deer hunters.**Caveat** I have NEVER bowhunted deer in my life and probably never will. BUT, I have hunted deer for over 25 years using both a rifle and a blackpowder muzzleloader!!So the question begs "Why does a rifle hunter love a book about bowhunting"?1). The Eberhart brothers are REAL HUNTERS -- they don't hunt on a private ranch or club leased land. All of their hunting experiences and expertise comes from hunting on Heavily Pressured Public Land -- just like 95% of us real world hunters, who don't star in a TV hunting show and who don't have thousands of dollars to spend annually on private club memberships.2). Since the Eberharts hunt on Heavy Pressured public lands (the MOST Difficult of Hunting circumstances), they pass on tips, tactics, and stategies that have worked for them over the years in these free public hunting areas.3). Since the Eberharts are primarily bowhunters, which is much more difficult than rifle hunting since you usually have to be within 40 - 50 yards of a trophy deer, any of their tactics that can get you THAT CLOSE to a deer for taking it with a bow will certainly work for killing it with a rifle.4). I particularly liked the section on finding "Potential Hunting Locations" since alot of us may be hunting free public land for the FIRST TIME and need to know how to quickly locate promising sites in Heavy Pressured Areas.5). I have read over 40 deer hunting books, most have some valuable little tibits of information tucked away somewhere in their many pages for you to scavenge through to find. But the Eberharts book is complete information taking you through how to: Scout both Post and Pre Season, Scent Control, Hunting all Phases of the Hunting Season -Early, October Lull, Pre-Rut, Rut, Post Rut and Late Rut, and hunting in different weather conditions: Rain, Snow, and Wind. They also cover tree stand and ground blind hunting. If I haven't convinced you by now to buy this book -- then you are not truly serious about wanting to become a better deer hunter.

Good Book for Hunting whitetails.
Great information here, can be a bit of a bore at times but always picks right back up. Some things just are not relevant anymore like gaining permission to hunt in the state of NJ isn't happening unless its a land lease for top dollar but couldn't hurt to try if the opportunity arises or other parts of the US may be different. Plenty of good public land information and they hold nothing back.

Outstanding Whitetail Hunting Guide
As an avid whitetail deer hunter, I have read quite a few hunting books. This is my first book from the Eberharts' and I found it to be one of the best and top hunting books I have ever read. These guys are very serious hard core hunters and it is deeply reflected in their writing and successes. I consider this more of an advanced resource, rather than a beginners and how-to guide. If you too are a serious hunter and want to learn how to hunt harder and smarter and to be more successful, then this is the book for you. It is not for the lazy or faint of heart, as these guys do a lot of their hunting on public land where pressure is very high. Also, the Eberharts seek non-paying access to private lands and often spend a lot of time driving to out-of-state destinations in their pursuits. This is a hunting book that you will reference for years, using the nuggets of experienced and successful advice in your own hunting pursuits. Enjoy!

Great information for new and old
Lays it out as easily as possible with detail in the explanations. Hits all the marks and pays close attention to those who don’t have easy access to private locations and have to hunt public land. A worthy purchase indeed.

An Actual Hunting Book
Less nonsense. An actual hunting book, about hunting, by a hunter. Rare. Decent read. Nothing new information wise.

Full of useful information broken up with stories of proof or stories ...
Considering it's a textbook on hunting deer it was able to keep my attention throughout. Full of useful information broken up with stories of proof or stories of how they came to find this information out. This book will steeply increase the learning curve of all the things you learn in a bush but more importantly what to do during the months where season is not on.
