Fox 40Micro Safety Whistle with Breakaway Lanyard

I bought this whistle after reading a recommendation on a survival forum. I went looking because my old go-to emergency whistle had broken unexpectedly. Which was a bit shocking. I mean, what good is a metal whistle if there’s a little soft plastic piece inside that can shift and make the whistle unusable when you need it to work?Long story short this whistle is all one-piece, so there aren’t any failure points, it’s small enough for pocket carry, and loud enough that it literally hurt my ears when I was testing it. Waaay louder than my last emergency whistle. 5/5

Really loud. I attached one to each of our life jackets. The small size doesn't get in the way, the break-away lanyard is a great idea, and they are loud!

I like that this whistle is shaped differently than most whistles and is very loud. I work in an elementary school and am required to wear a whistle. Small children always seem to want to touch regular shaped whistles, but haven't wanted to touch this one after 3 months of wearing it.

I had imagine a micro size whistle to be a bit smaller. This one was as big as your normal size whistle except it's flat which I guess makes it micro ? Ha. But very loud and piercing. Great buy. Might grab another one.

Loud enough, light and small. What more do you need? These are great little whistles. Getting someone's attention when you are injured or in a place where arm waving won't do the trick a whistle will carry and last longer than your voice. High frequency whistle sound carries better than your voice as well, so just get one already . While no quite as loud as the larger whistles these still get the job done.

A loud safety whistle for the outdoors. So light you forget your wearing it. Slim and wears comfortably under a shirt or jacket. No sharp edges to poke you. I can recommend the Fox 40!

An excellent whistle, particularly for survival and backup usage. I like it as well as the ACME 636 - which surprised me, as I dislike many of the other Fox40 models. Small, tough, loud, and tweetable over a range of volume, it's a suitable all-purpose whistle as well as for the survival and backpacking audience which is its target.

I am a professional beach lifeguard and this whistle is perfect to attach to wetsuits. It works when wet, I have used it and been heard over breaking waves and when attracting the attention of other swimmers in the water. In summary this whistle is loud enough to be heard above background waves and wind across 100-200m of open water by swimmers in the water and it will certainly make your ears ring.Whilst it is loud it is not the loudest whistle on the market, but it is extremely stream-lined with no sharp edges. When you are in the water or using a rescue board you do not want a large lumpy whistle attached to your wetsuit which is when this whistle is really handy. For use in sea this whistle is stream-line and compact and better for this purpose than the Classic Fox 40 or Acme Tornado 2000 which are both better from the beach to swimmers or boarders in the water.
