A Cozy Home In The Sky
As a bluebird who's been house-hunting for seasons, I can't express enough gratitude for my Dutch Crafters Bluebird house! The moment I spotted this beautiful birch-styled cylinder atop a pole, I knew I'd found my forever nest. The entrance hole is perfectly sized - just right for my wings to slip through while keeping those bulkier sparrows (no offense, guys) from barging in. Those pesky sparrows have evicted me from three previous homes, so this feature alone deserves an extra star! The interior is surprisingly spacious yet cozy. There's plenty of room for my mate and I to raise our brood, with excellent ventilation that keeps our nestlings comfortable even during those hot summer days. The craftsmanship is impeccable - no rough edges to catch my feathers on!I must give a wing-tip to the human who installed this house. They've been vigilant about discouraging sparrows who constantly try to claim my home. I've watched my human guardian gently redirect a persistent sparrow family toward another nesting option. Cooperation at its finest! The natural birch appearance blends beautifully with the surroundings while still catching enough of my attention during flight. It mounts at the perfect height too - safe from predators but convenient for my frequent food-gathering trips. If you're a human looking to attract bluebirds like me to your yard, look no further. And if you're a bluebird reading this review (hello, cousin!), trust me - you won't find a finer home on Amazon or in the wild!

Bluebird house
The bluebird house is easy to put up, easy to checkout if there is a nest/eggs, and looks good in my yard!

High quality
This house is beautifully made I’ve had other Gilbertson houses, but this one is very high quality. And I’m not kidding…within an hour after putting them up, bluebirds were landing on the boxes.

Hard to check on
While this is very well made I do have a slight problem with it. When checking the box I find it very difficult to squeeze the tube in order to mount it back between the screws as instructed. I had a lot of trouble and I’m afraid of what will happen when there are eggs or fledglings the nest. Maybe it will loosen up in time. Also, it would not fit on the established pole that the previous box was mounted on. We did some rigging and got it to work by inserting a smaller pipe into the existing pole.

Not HSSP proof, but nice.
It is carefully made and quite pretty in the yard compared to most nests. I got this in attempt to force the house sparrows to leave my bluebirds to nest in peace. Chickadees moved in right away, which I've never had before so I was content. The house sparrows watched them go in and decided to take over mere hours later so the chickadees abandoned the house. I was so mad I brought it in before sparrows could build. One thing I've read since buying is that smaller than the bluebirds should have and it is hotter inside than a wood house. I don't have a suitable shaded spot in our St. Louis intense heat and doubt I can do like others and duct tape an open umbrella to the post, so will be making a heat shield for it with super solar window screen. The design I will adapt is on the Sialis bluebird site.
