different storyline
I didnโt know what to expect when I saw this book on a bookshelf on a beach vacation. I read 200 pages in two days. I had to buy the kindle version to finish it! Lots of twists in the story. Great read !

Root of all evil vs. Laurie, Jack, and usual cast
I may be predjudiced because Robin Cook has been my favorite diversion for many years, but I was surprised by all the bad reviews this book got. I particularly like the Laurie and Jack books and thought this was at least as good as any before. As, a chemical engineer (doctor) / wannabe MD (REAL doctor), I also read Cook to learn something more about medical technology. I wonder if the bad reviews come from people bored by such things. Anyway, what I liked most about this one is that all the characters, good and "evil", had some good qualities that we could get interested in. We see a picture of healing being distorted by greed and the disasterous train of events it often puts in motion. I was never quite sure how it would turn out - a fairly complicated tale, in which Laurie, the heroine gets herself in quite a pickle, as she has before, and again Jack is not quite available to save her, but Lou does it. Anyway, according to me, at least a 4 - I liked it. I am waiting eagerly for the baby episode; at Laurie's age, it should be fraught with medical perils.

Outstanding
Mr. Cook always delivers and delights. I have always enjoyed having forensics and the person in my reading this is so wonderful. Mr. Cook provides the balance.I thank my sister in law for suggesting him, I had I seen Outbreak but my vacation with sister in law in Feb last year she was reading a Ronin Cook novel and I was caught on Cotnwell and the Brennan series so I searched Cook and found the Stapleton series! I have not stopped.Keep them coming.

It Could Happen!
A pretty well believable tale about skulduggery and corporate medicine. It is scary how big business has creeped into medical practice limiting choices by patients.

good book
The medical mystery was great but too much time was spent on the Mafias part in this. Otherwise good reading.

Great story
I liked the story and the ending but it got quite technical at times. I hope to learn more in future books s out some of the characters especially Angela! Sheโs very compelling.

very current topic
I always like the Robin Cook books. They are thoughtfully written. The mystery in the story keeps the action going. The people in the story become real to the reader. They are actually believable. And you look forward to meeting them again in a new book.

Critical
Itโs been many years since I read a Robin Cook book. When I was younger he was probably my favourite author. In those days I was reading a paperback and not digital version. Last week I came across one of his books, which made me search online and I downloaded critical and was not disappointed. If you have never read a Robin Cook book, then you are missing out. They normally make you think twice about going into hospital for any procedure. The book is a page turner and full of action and intrigue. I will definitely be download a few more of his books. A 4.75 out of 5 for me.

Terrific story
An excellent mystery from a really brilliant writer. I was hooked on this story right from the first few words. It centres around the main two characters from the Medical Examiner's Office and includes their personal lives as well as their professional lives. The usual twists and turns of Cook's novels keep the reader on the edge of his/her seat from the very beginning.I really could not put this book down.

Critical
I always liked Robin Cook's books, but find recently that the stories are very predictable and all very similar. I was a bit bored to be honest!
