An interesting horror comic
It was pretty decent for the first volume. I liked the premise and the way Kirkman handled his characters. I can't say much more about it, because the story hasn't reached it peak yet.

Primarily and Introduction to the Characters
Volume 1 of The Outcast is a thorough introduction to the main character, Kyle, the Outcast. He finds himself helping his reverend friend with a few exorcisms. It seems that Kyle's touch hurts the demons and forces them out of the victims. Or is it Kyle's blood? We don't know for sure yet. We do know the demons all recognize Kyle as the Outcast right away, but Kyle has not yet figured out what that means. Also, the reverend has not yet figured out that it is Kyle who is responsible for the successful exorcisms they have experienced. No doubt in the next Volume he will, if he's still alive. I'm not sure if he is or not.I found this to be an intriguing story, but there wasn't a lot of action. It is mostly character development at this point. I supposed I'll have to buy Volume 2 and see if I enjoy the story as it progresses.

Casting out Demons
I wasn't sure what to expect, but was happy to check out something new by Kirkman. Outcast is what the main character is know as to the demons and he s learning that he has a power to cast them out. Nice start, looking forward to reading more.

Excellent horror graphic novel start!
Kyle Barnes throughout this book gives information about his life. There is something hurting the people in the town. Kyle is determined to find out what it is. The reader will feel sympathy for Kyle and what he has endured. You will feel sorrow and want to help the minister for what he is trying to do for his followers in church. The dialogue is excellent and reveals what is necessary at the moment. The writing is solid through this volume. You will be involved from page one. The art/illustrations are a perfect match to the writing. This is a definite must read for horror fans!Disclaimer: I received a digital galley of this book free from the publisher from NetGalley. I was not obliged to write a favourable review, or even any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

A very interesting read.
Robert Kirkman has build a reputation of being a master of horror and drama alike. And it is with great joy that I say: This book doesn't disappoint! Kirkman weaves together a tale of spirituality, heartbreak, pain, loss, and the hope of redemption. Every piece of dialogue spoken by a character has meaning and depth into each character's personality and psyche. Not a single scene is wasted. Which brings me to the art. There are a few scenes and panels were no words are spoken and yet the artist manages to capture the mood of the characters and the situation they find themselves in. I can't wait to read the next volume.

Confused about the series, read the comic book
In was disappointed in how slow the TV series was moving, so I decided to buy the comic book. As with any adaptation, the original is way better than the TV series. The comic goes into a lot of depth for the preacher's character, which I really like--especially his views on God and his purpose in life. However, like the TV series, volume one explains very little. Volume one ends at TV episode #6--in case you were wondering.Art is appropriately minimalist and crude, but fits really well with the story. I like it so far, can't wait to read volume 2

On to volume 2
Enjoyable. Reminds me a little of a modern day "Penny Dreadful". I like the setting of the story as well... Small town in the US.Anyway, left me wanting to get on to he next one as soon as I finished. If the supernatural is up your street then you'll definitely like this.

Nice little story I wouldn't have made it into a ...
Nice little story I wouldn't have made it into a series longer than 3 books, rather forgettable characters no real drive in any of them, there seems to be no real end in sight for them after the first 3 issues, I would probably say 2.5/5

Great - must read!
I have read many, many graphic novels. I really enjoyed this, the story is engrossing and the artwork compliments and adds well to the overall story. Looking forward to the next collections in the series.

The story line was deep and yet easy to follow
Outcast is a well written, well thought out and well designed. I found myself not being able to put it down, in fact I went and bought the next two volumes as soon as I could. The story line was deep and yet easy to follow. I was not disappointed in the slightest.

Good v Evil but which is which?
Intriguing story. If you enjoy the tv show you'll love this! Possession and exorcism and the battle between the light and the dark.
