Page Patterns Vol III

I own the other two page patterns books, so when I found out that there was a third book, I had to have it, also. I love the fact that you can just thumb through the books and get ideas of what to do. I only gave this one 4 out of 5 stars because I haven't used this one as much as the other two books. It is still a fine book with lots of ideas, so the fault isn't with the book, exactly, I just like the other two better, I can't put my finger on why. The book is reasonably priced, and as usual Amazon got it to me a day or two before they said they would...which to me is a plus!

While I really, really like the lay out of this book, sorting the page layouts by the number of photos, I have a difficult time seeing the pattern as a whole, since it is done in line drawings. This isn't too much a knock on the book, I suppose, as to how I visualize things.One of the problems I tend to have with any design book is fitting my photo sizes, once they are trimmed, to the photo sizes of layouts, so nothing fits together quite as well as the layout in the book. I use this book for inspiration to get me started, but usually end up with something wildly different than what the book shows. Depending on how you look at things, I guess this could be a great thing.

I love the way the book is organized by how many pages you want your scrapbook layout to be. From there it breaks things down further into how many pictures you'll be putting on your layout. I love finding new ideas for scrapbook pages, but this book has been especially helpful because of it's simplicity. It contains black and white layout outlines without all the colorful fluff of embellishments and what not to distract me from my own crafting.

I'm an experienced scrapbooker, and I was constantly looking for books and magazines for layout inspiration. The toughest thing was finding a layout that would work with the pictures I had, and it could take me a half hour to find something that could potentially work, and then I'd still have to rework it to fit my pictures.This book and their other volumes are incredible timesavers. I just look for the number of photos I have in either the single or double layout sections, and I have lots of ideas for layouts. My scrapbooking friends and I have each purchased every volume in the set, as we can't stand to lend any of the volumes.A must have!

Over half of this book are 2 page layouts using 13 to 32 photos on one layout! I almost never use that many photos. I was looking for help for everyday scrapbooking. It said over 600 layouts in this book , but over half are useless to me or any scrapbooker. Why would you include so many layouts using that many pictures? Very dissappointed.

This little gem just arrived and, while I haven't used it yet, I can tell just by glancing through it that I will refer to it time and again for page ideas. Unlike many books of page sketches, this one doesn't distract with photos of someone's finished pages.

The Patterns Size Conversion Charts page uses incorrect spelling. It says, "Use these conversion charts in helping to size your photos to fit the pattern your" (instead of you're) "using." I haven't gotten too far into the book yet, but this needs corrected by the publisher.
