King of the Hill: Season 8

Finally! Thank You Olive Films!
I tell you what, man, back in 2006 Fox released the sixth season of KOTH on dvd and shortly after that they announced that they scrapped their plans to release any more seasons of KOTH. Dang it, man, Dang it! The fans went crazy and petitioned Fox to please release KOTH but we just got ignored. That is just bad business Fox, dirty pool, Fox, dirty pool. Now listen up Fox, at Strickland the customer comes first. That is right, the customer comes first. I reckon Fox needs to be schooled on that lesson.Flash forward to 2014. After nearly nine dang years of praying for this to come out, Olive Films comes to the rescue and starts releasing KOTH on dvd. Now I read some reviews on here and I got mighty scared to buy this, I tell you what. People were saying that their screens would just go black after an episode and not return to the menu, the dvds wouldn't play, and someone was even talking about dang tv logos at the beginning of the shows. I don't know if they got bad bootleg copies or what but the set I have plays perfectly. There are no tv logos and my dvds go back to the main menu after each episode. Every time, man, every dang time.Yeah man, I tell ya what, man. Those dang ol' Fox flipper dvds, man. No worries, man, no worries. All 22 uncut episodes are on three single sided dual layered dvds. Let me break it on down for y'all:Disc One:01 Patch Boomhauer02 Reborn To Be Wild03 New Cowboy On The Block04 The Incredible Hank05 Flirting With The Master06 After The Mold Rush07 Livin' On Reds, Vitamin C, And Propane08 Rich Hank, Poor HankDisc Two:09 Ceci N'est Pas Une10 That's What She Said11 My Hair Lady12 Phish And Wild Life13 Cheer Factor14 Dale Be Not Proud15 Apres Hank, Le DelugeDisc Three:16 Daletech17 How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Alamo18 Girl You'll Be A Giant Soon19 Stressed For Success20 Hank's Back21 The Redneck On Rainey Street22 Talking ShopVideo: The episodes are presented in a solid 1:33 transfer just like they aired. The colors pop and for the most part everything looks good. Sometimes I'll notice some jaggies in certain scenes but it isn't too dang bad or distracting.Audio: English 2.0 and Spanish 2.0. The audio is clear sounding and I have no complaints.Subtitles: EnglishExtras: Boy, I tell you what, man, this dang ol' set just has the episodes and nothing else. Dang ol' bare bones dvd. Dang it!

Good show, Great to have the set. Good packaging
I just revived my copy of season 7 and 8 on physical DVD Like many other fans I am thrilled to get to own seasons 7 and 8 on DVD. I'm not a big fan of digital distribution so when I herd they were being released on DVD a few months ago I instantly pre-ordered.Both season 7 and 8 feature nice packaging in the style of normal size cases with a swing flap that I personally prefer over the older style fold outs or slim cases. The artwork is nice and colorful. The cases are clear and an episode list is printed on the reverse side of the art work.I was happy to see that the three discs are single sided and not flippers. They house about eight episodes a disc. The only small drawback for me is that there are no bonus features at all. I am still extremely happy with everything else. I hope Olive Films will continue to release the remaining seasons on DVD. These two sets have been the first DVDs I have ever pre-ordered, and I would be more then happy to pre-order the rest of the seasons as they become available.

Great show for anyone into comedy
Such an excellent show, one of the best-of-all-time in my personal opinion. Filled with laughs that address the times it was made in, it can be appreciated by both adults & children alike. Anyone who grew up in the 2000s should have an appreciation for this show which brings a level of nostalgia to the table. Written, produced, & directed by some of the same people responsible for the American-version of the "The Office," if you like this show, you'll love "King of the Hill."

Great show, very decent packaging
This isn't about the show, the show is awesome, you don't need me telling you that, so this is about the packaging; In this day and age we are becoming so used to often such crummy packaging of DVDs that its a relief to get something in, if not excellent, at least very acceptable packaging for storage that should reasonably protect the disks on any shelf. As this is.

Amazon is really expensive to watch FREE shows.
It bugs me that Netflix had the whole show on, but when I got to season 8, it suddenly disappeared. I started watching the show about season 11. So to get to season 11, I now have to pay a HIGH PRICE to watch a show that was on FREE TV in the first place. I'd watched about half the shows, but it would have cost MORE to buy the individual shows than the whole season, so I paid the price.Funny show. I'll probably just stop watching at the end of season 8 instead of paying another $60+ for seasons 9 and 10!

Great show
As usual, King of the Hill exceeds expectations and goes where you didn't think it would. The show always has a heart of gold, and this episode could have been a gratuitous swipe at devout Christians. Instead, it respected them, and instead focused with benevolence on the constant tension between fathers and sons. On the downside, Amazon double-billed me when I had to switch browsers because Firefox kept buffering. Safari worked fine. I'll have to make a phone call, I guess.

Bobby is King
This is great although some people (fans of Richard hammond for example) would struggle to understand it.Hank Hill is not a real king and lives in a town that is relatively flat but he is the king of the non-existent hill of the title but doesn't wear a crown or anything. As if that isn't confusing enough he is not real but 'animated' (a series of moving pictures that have been drawn by people) but he feels real (I don't mean that you can feel him on the television screen but emotionally). You almost believe that these people are real instead of just pictures. I don't know how they draw the voices but it's all very clever.Bobby Hill is a drawing of Hank and Peggy's son and he's really good and funny. Luanne is definitely worth a go too if you get my drift - almost as good as Amy in Futurama.I like it and don't like Richard Hammond so that should be a good benchmark.

Another fun filled Season comes to DVD.
Don't let the poor cover art, nor the fact the back of the box lists Season 7 episodes put you off, Season 8 of King Of The Hill is another excellent year for the show. Things kick off greatly when Brad Pit playing Boomhauer's brother comes to town engaged to Bomhauer's ex girlfriend Sum 41 turn up playing tattooed rocking christians much to Hank's dismay. Later in the season Johnny Depp plays Hanks hilarious yoga instructor and Lindsay Lohan joins the fun as one of Bobby's crushes.

A great season
There are some excellent episodes in season eight and great guest stars; in the first episode alone, Brad Pitt voices Boomhauer's brother
