SMITH Maze MIPS

I've been wearing Bolle helmets from Costco for the past 10 years, until I discovered that Asian fit helmets existed. Stores don't carry too many (if any at all) Asian fit options in my area, so it's next to impossible to be able to try on a helmet prior to purchase. For this reason, I knew I'd have to risk an online purchase. After researching a bunch of helmets, I came to the conclusion that I'd like to try the Smith Optics Maze helmet. There were no reviews for the Asian fit ones, but for $55, I figured I had nothing to lose... It couldn't be any worse than Costco sold Bolle helmets.First of all, the top of the helmet is definitely better rounded, that is, wider. The helmet no longer rests on the sides of my head.. the top actually rests on the top of my head, which is something only an Asian would understand lol. Store clerks would just tell me to size up, but in the end, the helmet was too big front to back and still rested on the sides of my head, leaving a gap at the top of my head. I didn't think that would be too big an issue, but after a few hours of riding, my head would start to ache because the top of my head was being squeezed/wedged into the helmet to prevent it from moving around too much. That issue has been resolved with this helmet.The helmet has an inch of elastic in the back. The lining has adjustable clips, which allows adjustability in increments of about about .7/.8cm to a total of about 3cm. My head size is 57cm, but I sized up (to a large) per reviews. It leaves just enough room for a beanie/balaclava. The lining seems minimal, but it's still fairly cushy compared to my old bolle. Ear muffs are super comfortable and warm as well. The only thing I'd like to change about the helmet is to add an adjustable dial to make it easier to adjust the helmet, but because of the fit and lightweight design, I am definitely keeping this helmet... at least until I receive my kickstarter beanie helmet! :)

PROS - The helmet is lightweight, warm, and seems to be of very good quality, like all the other Smith items that I own.CONS - The helmet doesn't have an adjustment dial which could be used on days where you want to wear a hood, hat, or some layer underneath it.The major reason I gave the helmet 1-star is illustrated in the above images. There are two plastic points that stick out below the padding and rubbed my neck during the first 3 days of wearing the helmet on the mountain. I don't know if my helmet was shipped without a cover for these pieces, but they are extremely painful. The red marks shown in the photos are more like burns than cuts.

Item arrived and we realized that it was the smith maze bike helmet not the snow sports helmet. Big difference in the products. Bike helmet could not effectively be used for snow sports!

My first helmet - when I skied 25 years ago, it was toques or nothing.Getting back into the sport, a helmet was recommended not only for safety but also because it was warmer, more comfortable, held the goggles better, and didn't itch.I like it - it's warm, light, and itch free. My goggles are ready to be pulled down if the snow starts flying.It also has a zipper so that you can add speakers if you want to listen to music while skiing.I took one star off - it's a bit loose, and it would be nice if it came with add-on padding to make it a bit snugger. A smaller size would be too tight.

Took this bad boy out for a day of skiing. Fit perfect right out of the box. I have an extra large coconut so I was a little nervous that it would fit. No problem whatsoever. My previous helmet was an XL Giro level 9. This Smith helmet paired with Smith goggles is a nice upgrade.

Used this at Mammoth this year when there was 20 feet of snow on slopes. Worked great... head wasn't too hot or too cold (but it was around 25F when we were there). The point of a good helmet is to not know that it's there while providing a level of safety. This helmet, stylish as well, fit the bill.

Super comfy

nice and super lightweight helmet. The large fits great on m y about 59cm head. Some other Smith helmets like the Holt are a little big, but this is just right!

It did not fit so returned. It is not a full water resistant helmet the vent slots are not shown.

使用予定があったので早めの発送をお願いしたところ、丁寧に対応していただけました。メッセージの返信も早く安心できました。ただ、届いた商品(ヘルメット)が新品のはずなのに１箇所凹んでいるところがあり、展示品とかだったのかな…と思いました。使用予定がなければ交換をお願いしたかったです。それか、値引き交渉したいところでした。時間もなかったし、その他の対応は良かったので、目を瞑りましたが…なので星四つです。

実際にアジアンフィットでないので返品しました。カラーにより正規品でもアジアンフィットでないのがあるみたいです返品したので送料無駄でした
