RheemSP20245 Concentric Vent Kit

I too read the reviews before clicking. As a whole, I like the product with limitations. Read the one star review for a summary of my complaints and I'll add another. First, the included 90 degree elbow is useless, it doesn't fit, loose as a goose. Maybe the intention is for it to turn like a weather vane, I don't know. The instructions indicate that the customer must supply a three inch 45 degree street el to make the air intake connection. None on the supply houses in San Jose had one or even knew what I was talking about. So....using a standard 45 degree el, it took several hours of cut and fit to get it to function. It looks like s..t, but at least it works. My suggestion to Rheem would be to delete the useless piece and include the 45 degree piece.On the other hand, my overall experience was a good one as I didn't need to cut a second hole in my roof. The new vent actually fit in the hole left from my previous tank type water heater. Recommended with reservations.

Yes, it took three tries before I received one that was not broken. I guess three times was the charm.For some reason the people who ship this refuse to provide any packing inside the box and the first two times it was broken the same way other people have mentioned. At the tabs of the top piece. The third shipment arrived undamaged but I guess I was just lucky, since it was packaged the same as the first two. Since I was not planning to install this till later this summer, I put up with the returns. But if I really needed to use it immediately I would probably source it from somewhere else. Other than this inconvenience, I can't say anything bad about the product, the price is very good and it does what it is designed to do. The loose elbow fitting some people have complained about is not an issue for me since I do not need to use it. I am using it in the vertical position for a hi-efficiency furnace and is designed to vent to atmosphere without any elbow.

I just got the Rheem 9.5GPM installed and using this concentric kit on the roof.Beware: The measurement on the elbow vent is a little off because it doesn't fit the tip. The elbow a 3' but the tip is 2 7/8 inch, so the elbow is loose, not tight at all. I have to screw the elbow to the tip to make it tight and also it didn't come with additional elbow street to make it upside down U (to prevent water and bugs from coming in). Other measurement is standard. For the roof flashing i use the adjustable 3'-4' hard plastic roof flashing because the outer pvc that will stick out is 4.5'. It is sch 40 not 80.

This kit was broken when it arrived in an unpadded container. The stand off fins on the exterior collar were all broken. I reported it as damaged and received a replacement two days later. This replacement was similarly packaged, also had fins broken, but only two this time, so I accepted it. Installation was challenging, requiring two people and speedy glue work. I used this kit because I was venting my new water heater through the 6" vent hole used by the old one. With the benefit of hindsight, I would have been better off just to repair the siding and cut two 3-1/2" vent holes for the intake and exhaust lines.

Assembly was easyThe outer pipe is 4" PVC, so I had to enlarge the opening in my roof a bit because the old vent was a 3" pipe. That was not so bad if you are handy. If not, you will need a roofing person to do the installation. This is still greatly favorable to cutting another hole in the roof or having an unsightly pipe out the side of your house.I recommend this product.My on-demand water heater works great and has cut my propane bill in half VS the 2-year-old tank-style water heater it replaced.

I like it, but I will only be able to use top and bottom. I will buy new center "longer" sections to go from garage to outside of roof. You might see if you can purchase top and bottom separately if you need longer length.

I was debating using the cheaper standard direct vent kit (2 holes for intake/flue), but am 100% glad I chose this type. Requiring only one penetration through the wall/roof, your work is almost cut in half. Not to mention the potential for leaks is as well. Also, the end install is more clean and professional than 2 bent pipes sticking through the wall at odd angles.This vent works for water heaters, as listed, as well as furnaces requiring a 2" or 3" vent.

The only thing bad about this is the inside pipe is an odd ball size (2.5 inch PVC) making adding an extension difficult.

Works good, no problem with instalation.A bit bulky, needs 5" hole in siding.

This vent is superior to the other styles as you only drill 1 hole to the exterior and the look from the outside is plain and uncluttered. East to install as the design allows you to set the pipes any way you desire. Final look inside is very organized.

Excellent product, work fine, recommended

Bought for an on demand hot water heater, heavy duty and pretty easy to install
