ELO 99388 Stainless Steel Super Fast Pressure Cooker, 3-Quart

I had been looking in all our local stores for a pressure cooker for my mom for Christmas and the only ones that i could find were aluminum. I then went to the internet search and put in "stainless steel pressure cookers". Out of all of the results your product caught my eye and i bought it. She loves it. I have never used a pressure cooker before, so I was a bit apprehensive about using this pot. The first dish I tried in this pot was a chicken curry which amazingly only took about 20 min. on low heat to cook. Pressure cookers really do save time and energy. The instructions that came with the pot were easy to follow. I am now completely sold on pressure cooker cooking. The pot is also very well made.

I'd been looking quite a while for an induction compatible small pressure cooker, and I finally found this stainless one at Amazon.Note that aluminum cookers won't work with induction and some stainless ones won't either (depending on the alloy used.) However this works great, and pressure cooking with induction is even faster.Price is great, build quality is fine, plus this compact ELO is the perfect size for one or two. Easy to use on first use: the results were good, and cleanup was easy.

We used this pressure cooker about 6 times without incident. During the 7th usage the pressure seal failed and sprayed food all over the stove, cabinets and floor. What happened? We believed it was the locking mechanism that had failed to engage properly. I pushed it in manually and put the lid back on and started the process. Again, just as the pressure was near its peak the seal blew and nearly same results except I was standing there ready to move it to the sink. Unfortunately, we did not use the pressure cooker often and the return/replace option ran out long before we discovered this major flaw.

This is my 1st pressure cooker. I picked this one because of Amazon's $40 price tag without much research. It is very small and left me wanting a larger one after the 1st use. The cooker is made in china but seems sturdy and well made. The manual gives just basic operation, cleaning and cooking information. No recipes or accessories are included. The cooker is a European Practika Plus XS model and looks similar to Magefesa Practika Plus line which Amazon also sells. The size listed on the box is 18cm and 2.7 litres. The high pressure setting for this cooker is 1 bar which works out to be about 14.5psi. Spare parts can be bought from the German ELO website but shipping may be very costly. In hind sight, I wish I had bought a larger cooker with included accessories, recipes and better access to replacement parts.
