The Essential Iliad

If you're trying to get people who hate reading to finish the Iliad, this is the book. It does cut out all the fun bits for people who actually like the story though.

I purchased this for a Ancient Greek & Roman history class and it was perfectly condensed. Would highly recommend getting the essential Iliad audiobook and listening to it as you read along for maximum retention if you’re in a similar situation.

Good read especially for the history buffs out there interested in an inside look of the workings of Ancient Greece.

Great version of the epic. I bought it for a law and literature class. I enjoyed the read. The book was smaller than I expected. It was in great condition. It was a very readable version of a much longer epic. The deleted portions of the epic were not necessary for the class I was taking, and they tried to give a short summary of what I was missing out on. This is a great read for a beginner in epics.

A great translation of this ancient epic. The print is big enough so that it is easy to read, and the introduction was interesting. I needed it for a western philosophy class, and it portrays the ancient Greek honor culture well.
