Always read the manual ;) The dimmer switch is actually one of the best features as you can adjust the brightness of the cool/warm light during the day or evening which is important as a main ceiling light. Gives a good light and has a wide range of colours and brightness shades.Sadly the translucent 'globe' is of poor quality plastic… very brittle and delicate… not really appropriate for a product of this high price.Unfortunately I dropped the plastic globe of the first one and it shattered into many pieces…… not what you would expect of plastic. Also the fit to the base is rather crude.had two of these and the assembly of electronics in one of these is really very crude and slap dash.
