Historical romance that gives you all the feels
Susan Elizabeth Phillips never disappoints. She always gives you enough details to set the scene but she also gives you the details that make your heart and mind feel for each of her characters. It is rare to read about the time soon after a war and the struggles faced as people worked at rebuilding their lives. Just Imagine gives a wonderful glimpse of that time and the new relationships that needed to be built.

Republished historical romance from 1984
This is a very early book of Susan Elizabeth Phillips. It is fine as a historical romance, but not stellar as her Chicago Stars series. My expectations were too high. I had wanted a stellar historical romance. But everyone has to start somewhere and this is her beginning.

Laugh out loud funny! This is one of Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars books. READ THEM ALL! They are funny and entertaining and since the characters interact with each other you get glimpses of some of your favorites from earlier books each time you read one. I recommend reading them in order so you know the characters but it is not absolutely necessary.

Not very fulfilling. It was ok, but so far my least favorite of her books.
The characters and plot weren't that good. Maybe it was due to being one of her early works. This story was first printed in 1984 and titled "Risen Glory." It was reprinted in 2001 with the current title. This book lacks her witty dialogue which I love in her later books.CAUTION SPOILER: I didn't understand the characters during their marriage as to why they were so cold to each other. I didn't care for her actions in the end to prove her love to him. It seemed that they got back together too easily without resolving the prior coldness.DATA:Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: about four. Just after the Civil War on a southern plantation. Copyright: 1984. Genre: historical romance.OTHER BOOKS:For a list of my reviews of other Susan Elizabeth Phillips books, see my 5 star review of "Glitter Baby" posted 1/15/09.

Wonderful
To all the dedicated reviewers out there, thank you. Once again I was directed to a great book through the review of another. This is a keeper and an author whose works a can't wait to explore.Don't worry that some have said the storyline has been done before, it was sure dressed up and brought to town in this version. I laughed out loud, I cried and I sighed. Beautifully written and professionally edited. I enjoyed every page.

A twist on Gone with the Wind.
I really enjoyed this one. It reminded me a little of the banter and chemistry between Mitchell's Scarlett o'Hara and Brett Butler. At times it was a little to whiny, from the p.o.v. Of the heroine, but it loved the way the story was written. Enough sexual tension to curl your toes.

Great Romance
I love a romance between two very strong characters. Both of these came from painful pasts and it made it hard for them to give or give in. The banter between them was great. I also loved the story of Sophronia and Magnus. Dolly was fun but the story just wouldn't have been the same without the comical insight of Veronica.

Just imagine I really enjoyed this
I loved this book. It was funny and had a really good story line. I have read most of SEP's other books and would rate this a one of her better ones. I also like the time period it was set in. All in all a very enjoyable read.

SEP einmal etwas anders,

This is the SEP I fell in love with
It was a great Romance which i read in a day because i couldnt stop reading. I must admit i was a little sceptical when i heard SEP is now writing historical romance, but it was areal plesant suprise. After having been a little disappointed with her last few books this one was worth the wait. It made me laugh out loud, fell butterflys in my tummy and even tear up once or twice. If you love a good romance this is a must have!

different but great
Was only used to her modern books but I always love her development of characters. This story is a typical story of 2 way too head strong and proud people but I very much enjoyed it!!
