Delta Faucet 72020-SS Accessory Air Gap, Stainless 2.44 inch

This is clearly NOT a Delta product - (and it's not the first time this has happened to me on Amazon. Fool me once..) This is a plain white box with a Delta sticker slapped on. I can see other writing underneath but I couldn't get the sticker off because it's seems to be attached with extra adhesive. The "oil-rubbed bronze finish" is paint. Cheap aluminum (not brass), cheap plastic, and it doesn't say Delta anywhere on the product. My contractor is here and he says, this is a joke; it's definitely not Delta, which he installs all the time. I wanted to take advantage of quick Prime shipping, but I should've just driven the 12 miles to Lowe's.Clearly, I am not alone in this complaint. Why is this still being sold?? C'mon Amazon...ALSO: I notice that some of these product reviews ARE FOR THE FAUCET; NOT THE AIR GAP which I've also noticed happens a lot on Amazon. IMPORTANT: ***if you search on Amazon for "air gap" and look at the filters on the left, there's a filter for "product replacement type" with 2 choices: "OEM" aka "Original Equipment Manufacturer" or "replacement part". If you select "OEM", the "Delta" faucet disappears from the results. Nowhere on the product description does it say "replacement part" or "Not original". Someone needs to tell Delta...

The product I received is not the product pictured on this item. I also do not believe this is a Delta product, as stated. The product has another company name on it and doesn't say Delta Anywhere. The air gap cover has a lip at the bottom...it doesn't have a lip in the photo on Amazon. I think it's the wrong product. It has a sticker on it that has the 72020-RB number on it, but the box itself has a completely different product number...70818-A and the company is UPC. I looked up UPC air gap...it's a totally different company and doesn't seem to have any link to Delta. They did throw in a Delta "instructions" paper, outside of the box...so I guess the air gap instructions are from Delta, but the air gap isn't. Strange. First time this has happened to me on Amazon. I'm returning it...I really only wanted the air gap cover and this one doesn't fit on my current air gap. Also, I happened to already have this same air gap (the wrong one), which I purchased from Faucet Direct...and funny, on Faucet Direct they also show the wrong photo and wrong product description, so I think they are the ones who are advertising this on Amazon, although it says "fulfilled by Amazon" so that's confusing.

I actually bought this the first time a year ago or so. I was not impressed with the plastic internals. Also saw that the rubber gasket would look ugly between the cap and counter. I returned it figuring I would find something else. Everything else I found seemed worse or very expensive(Ferguson type stuff). But after an on and off search for 6 months I came up with nothing better so ordered it again and decided I would make it work. Pretty much everything else you read in these reviews is right. It seems a little cheap/flimsy. There is barely enough thread to secure it if your surface is 1-1/2" thick.How I made it work:I put the ugly gasket under the counter instead of on top. Yes this is technically wrong. It would be wise to have the cap sealed to the counter. This could be done with clear polyseamseal or clear silicone. The metal cap fits on the nut if you press firmly.Really happy with how it turned out once I committed to using this part. The Artic Stainless finish matches our Delta Artic Stainless faucet fairly well.

Ordered 2, neither of the packages indicates the brand name "Delta" on it anywhere! They have a sticker with the product number on it, also not indicating Delta brand. I can't believe this is the real thing. They will both be going back and hopefully we can find authentic Delta product before our contractor needs it.

Looks good. Installed easily. There really isn't any profound wisdom that I can share about air gaps. So let me type a few words about the box. Mine came in the anonymous white box that has been discussed in other comments. The same sort of white box in which the other Delta accessories I ordered were packaged. I read those comments before ordering, but noticed that a Delta representative replied when there were product issues. I felt comfortable ordering. And was pleased that the finish on the metal cap matched my other Delta parts exactly.

This has been working great: no leaks and looks attractive. I was replacing a cheapo air gap that had been installed with my dishwasher. Relative to the old one, this air gap has a few advantages:- Doesn't leak. I thoroughly cleaned out the hose at the same time as I replaced the air gap, so maybe the leaking was due to the small amount of gunk that was in the hose, but I felt like the old air gap was also maybe not well designed to funnel the water into the hose.- Accommodates thicker countertops: the manufacturer rates it for up to 1½" deck thickness. My old air gap couldn't really fit my thick counter properly, and the plumber had kind of jammed it on there somehow.- Great selection of attractive finishes. The stainless finish looks great and matches my sink. The old one only came in polished chrome.- Rubber washers that help secure the air gap to the counter snugly and gently. My old one just had the plastic nuts, no washers.- When you pop the finished cover on, it is flush with the countertop. The old one left a visible plastic ring below the metal cap.
